So I finished this short film a few days ago. It's biggest film I've produced so far, and I learned a lot through this whole process. I'm looking for views, criticism, and honesty...let me know what you guys think! Not bad. Pacing is slow and the girl's acting could be better. I know there were scenes where you were supposed to think the guy was going after her, due to her overacting and the music, but I never got that sense of dread. But overall good effort.
Was the guy's job to scare the chick? Or was she imagining the dude; she was jumpy from the 1st time she was introduced. I think she created the idea of the guy chasing her, I mean he suddenly started appearing in different spots . In your mind , when your walking downtown at night you always feel 'not alone'.
I think he's supposed to be some sort of guardian angel. He gets his assignments through those pictures. People can feel him but not see him. Thus the guy in the car looking at the stop sign. And thus the girl sensing him and starting to run.
tooooooooooooooo sloooooooooooooooooooooow. in the first 2 minutes..a guy walked a few steps and a car drove by. then i saw more people walking.. use your time wisely. seems like this entire thing could have been 1 minute.
Thats what I got from it too. So is this guardian angel just saving random people? Do these people all have a connection somehow?
girl flips hair every 5 seconds. she also looked right at the camera when walking... but w/e obviously cant expect half way decent acting for free. she was hot though. shots were too long too many times. only reason to have a shot that long with really nothing actually happening is internal struggle with character or change. the guardian angel did neither. takes a whole whole lot to hold an audience in suspense for that long. (lot of buildup) liked most of the shot angles, and post processing.
I'm not much of a movie critic, but I think the absence of sound effects hindered the feel of the film a bit. It's hard to immerse yourself in a world when you're only allowed to use one of your senses. Also, I agree that it was really slow paced for a relatively simple concept. All in all though, it seemed pretty solid to me.
