Doesn't matter. If a player & his agent are looking at Houston, they see a GM who has a reputation of making promises & reneging. He also has been known to bargain his players through the media. Nobody's coming here
Yeah free agency started and ended july 1. The deadline came and went and fiba might have been distraction but those fiba players definitely were not looking to be dealt so people was left with bench players who didn't necessary get better but worst like far"weed" and Shumpert.
Ya this has to debunked by now with rivers signing back for the min... because he wanted to be here and had much larger options financially. Same with nene among many others over the years. Even EG deal is pretty team friendly when u see his final year is non guaranteed and he prob could have gotten a 4 year deal with the same yearly cash since it’s a weak FA class this coming summer. The rockets will trade u if your not James Harden. That’s nba and pro sports in general.
This is the best day of Shumpert-Rockets. Was a mistake from the get go. Dude is a bonafide loser. Got Knicks loserness in his soul. Did anyone honestly expect him back? He was last year’s screw up.
Any other player during that season's free agency. It was actually a pretty crappy class after the top. Ryno's contract was similar to Evan Turner, Evan Fornier, Kent Bazemore, Bismack Biyombo, Chandler Parsons, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, Ian Mahinmi, Timofey Mozgof, and Dwight Howard. I think Ryno served a purpose and helped the Rockets that season get to the level where they attracted CP3. Looking back, every big FA contract (other than KD to the Warriors) was quite a bust. Eric Gordon was probably the steal of the free agent class.
Holy premature ejaculator batman!! There was no confirmation of a renege. Deduction is not nearly as effective as induction.
He was a bad player who thought more highly of himself than he should have and who therefore talked a lot. Not a loss, glad he is gone.
I don't think most would disagree with you about his value as a player but it's more about not having expiring salary to send out in a mid season trade.
So he'd really rather not play in the league I guess. His stock is at an all time low after last season.
glad this scrub is no longer a rocket. odds are even if he agreed to a nene type deal, he would have just been waived in january anyways. don't see us going deep into the lux tax, and especially not for iggy
Shump is a good defender, however, with the Rockets he was unwilling to buy into the defensive scheme of switching. Part of it was his unfamiliarity with the system, but he never really seemed to improve much in that area. He has that mentality that he has to stay with his man. It was annoying since it often confused our team.
