I remember that day. I took my driving test so didn't get to see most of this. Fortunately I had the VCR programmed to record. That split finger was just falling off the table. What a wicked pitch that day.

Astros are MLB's No-Hit King since their inception.

The franchise is currently tied for 9th most (13) in history and every team ahead (save Dodgers) has only ~5 more occurrences despite existing twice as long. The teams tied have also existed twice as long. The Dodgers' great success still falls short of Houston's no-no/season average. Marlins have done well too.

Here’s the breakdown by franchise of the 303 no-hitters over professional baseball’s 130-plus year history. The page ranks the teams by no-hitters thrown and has links to view all of a particular team’s no-nos. The Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers sit far ahead of all other teams, and just one team is void of having its own no-hitter: the San Diego Padres.

I remember. It was a day game and I was in high school. Marching band practice started right around the middle of the game and our band director announced in his gigantic megaphone that we were taking a break to go into the band hall and listen to the last 2 innings. Me and some buddies went out to one of their cars and listened.

My dad played hooky from work and was one of the 300,000 people who were (allegedly) there. He said it was so loud that the rafters were shaking so much that people in his section were seriously worried they were going to collapse.

BTW, this will literally NEVER happen again. A no-hitter to clinch a division? What are the chances? I mean, literally what are the statistical chances of that ever happening again?

Thanks for posting this! We didn't have cable -- I've never gotten to watch this game. I listened to Milo call the last few innings, as soon as I got home from school.

Hard to believe the Padres have ZERO and the Mets have only 1 when we have 2 this season alone.
