    Look, honestly this sounds like common sense to me....and that is something everyone could use a lot more of these days.

    An accomodation becomes an endorsement when there are sides to choose. In this case, nobody minds the practices being moved. But what if someone did give a damn and made a big ruckus? Would they have any validity?

    I think they would and from the article it sounds like the coach made sure that he had everyone's OK before he proceeded with this plan. Even though the coach is Muslim his reason appears clearly to be to accommodate the majority of his players. He is not endorsing Islam as I haven't seen any comments from him that would encourage someone to follow Ramadan rules if they weren't inclined to do so.
