The Rockets Draft was aight but the steal of the draft may be a guy nobody drafted. The Rockets picked up Scott Machado on there Summer League team. This guy should be a keeper. Matter of fact I would go as far as starting the season with Kyle and Scott being my two point guards and not pursuing Goran or Lin(I would not pay Lin 5 to 8 mil). This guy has a hire upside than both and would be cheaper than both and allow us to go after a two guard like B-Roy, Gerald Green, Nick Young and another couple of centers like Kaman,Camby, or JaVale McGee.
Believe they aren't on your payroll until you sign them to the team. And you shouldn't need to do that until sometime during preseason. This is how you came by I. Smith. He signed a 2 year contract (something like the first year was guaranteed??) w/ the Rox. In his case (and it would be the case for Machado if he's retained), he was signed mid August.
f I was Morey I would sign him to a non gar. contract asap so the samething don't happen to the Rockets as it did to the Mavs with J. Lin 2 years ago.
You're a bit late with your recommendation since we've offered both those blokes contracts. Also, pursuing Gerald Green??? You're kind of ruining the ability to convince us about Machado when you recommend him...
Pretty sure that if you are paying them minimum for an unsigned FA (which would be the case here), you are only a pittance away from a roster spot. Probably more classy as a franchise to guarantee him something (1 year) and just waive him if you end up needing the spot. You are out a couple hundred thousand in cap space (irrelevant) but I'd think it's a good thing to do for rapport.
Good value. Best case scenario is probably a Jose Calderon. Our summer league team will be ****ing deep. Maybe its helps with trade value.
Huh? I meant as a player comparison. They have pretty comparable vision and lack of athleticism. Calderon is the best case result
