As a side note I’ve been driving through rural Minnesota a lot recently and while I see a Lot of Trump signs and signs for US Reps i didn’t see any signs for Royce White. Even in the reddest parts of MN have seen more signs for Amy Klobuchar than Royce White.
I did see a moving billboard with a Royce White sign. This was in North Minneapolis that has the largest black population in the state.
What a silly thing to say without thinking it through. At absolute minimum, there are 1.5 billion people who had no other problem with China and have a major problem with the treatment of Uyghurs. They don't fall for the "genocide" exaggeration. They know exactly where Xinjiang is because they used to own it. The collective punishment is unjust and in general is just too harsh and that shouldn't be difficult to understand. I'm sure China will regret it when this re-education plan backfires and they'll do better in the future.
Did you miss the part where I said IN THE USA and TRUMP SUPPORTERS? The majority of Trump supporters who bring up the plight of Uyghurs do so only because they want to criticize China. They really don't care about the suffering of the Uyghurs or any other Muslims. If they did do you think they would be Trump supporters in the first place? It's like when Communist Party members in China bring up the suffering of minorities in the USA. Do you really think they care about their plight or they are just doing it to criticize the USA?
I didn't catch that but regardless if more than half the world believes something is wrong there is validity to the claim. I do think people take politicized positions on this thing. I think it's horse **** to pretend like no American cares about it or that no Chinese people care about oppressed Americans. It's just intellectually lazy and insincere. Many of those Americans criticize America too and I'm pretty sure many of those Chinese are as critical in private about China as they are about America. Trust me, Americans have been doing the same thing to my region for decades while I've been telling them they're ruled by child, human and weapons traffickers too. I understand where you're coming from. Don't let that propaganda swing you like a pendulum thinking everyone who express concern for Uyghurs is a bot. That's a dangerous slope to slip on.
Sure many Americans do actually care about the suffering of the Uyghurs and other Muslims around the world. Just not the majority of Trump supporters. All you have to do is take a look at polls which shows the percentage of Trump supporters who wants to ban Muslims from entering the USA and even deporting all Muslims who already immigrated into the USA legally.
Trump supporters are just about half of voters, and voters are a quarter of America. That's a smaller group than you think. Most Americans if presented with a large sample of testimonies and provable facts from the Uyghurs would simply consider that to be too oppressive even if it's not a genocide. Just like any other people in the world. It's just unnecessary and I think the CCP are showing their ignorance about the construction of Islam in this scenario. Islam is specifically designed to motivate people who are oppressed at exactly the point of thought-policing. When the oppression shrinks, adherence to Islam shrinks (which is what China should aim for). When the oppression intensifies, it supercharges Muslims to go for the neck of the oppressor regardless of the damage it causes even if it requires decades of laying low. Re-education specifically is acting as gasoline here since the texts specifically mention this phenomenon and how to circumvent it. Oppressing Muslims is a bad idea in general. No one has succeeded in doing this without massive violence breaking out.
