Starter. Rotation. Squad CE: Sengun Garuba PF: Wood. MartinJr SF: Tate. House SG: Green. Gordon. Thomas. Christopher PG: PorterJr. Wall. Bradley. Augustin Bradley is a team option. But we need more forwards. Hopefully we trade some G's not in our future for some spacing Fs especially.
Wall isn't coming off the bench. If he isn't starting he's not playing. Hopefully he accepts a buyout.
Obviously, decline Bradley Wall / KPJ / Augustin Green / Gordon / Christopher Martin / Thomas Tate / House / Garuba Wood / Sengun That's a 13 man roster guaranteed for next season as of right UNLESS Garuba stays in Spain for another year Trade House for cap space and a future 2nd Waive or buyout DJ Augustin Trade Gordon for a mediocre player on a smaller contract, preferably a big (Dwight Powell or Favors?) Christopher and Garuba(if he comes over) likely spend most of the year in G-League, maybe Sengun too, who knows. Pass on bringing Brooks, Wilson, Lamb, Exum back I'd take back any of Olynyk, Brown, or Nwaba at the right price but most likely all 3 are gone to contenders
I’d be shocked if Gordon is on this team. I think brooks might play that role this year with Green starting.
We do this every year... pencil in the rookies as starters. It rarely happens. Green is a 2pick - so good chance he starts sooner than later. Sengun will most likely be off the bench Garuba might not even come over Christopher may well be sent to the GLeague to develop I wouldn't be shocked to see us keep Olynyk. I would be shocked to see Wall playing - but then again, they might go with the vets thing and make the young guys all come off the bench. It has been done before.... especially if we can't find a value trade for Wall in the off-season Tate and Wood are the only 2 guys I think we can safely lock in as starters. Hopefully KPjr - depends on whether we manage to move Wall pre-season. If not, Wall and EGo starting and playing heavy minutes to increase their value and then move them along. I know it would be frustrating, but I would be very ok with Wall EGo Tate Wood Olynyk As the starting lineup. We're not winning more than we lose like that, and we can hand the backcourt over the KPjr/ Green a month or 2 into the season.
Wall's days are numbered. I am not okay with Ego though unless you still want for him to have fun. Teams know him so no need to parade him around. He is still a 16 ppg scorer but outdated/impeding the growth of other players. I would even go as far as giving Sengun the same amount of minutes as Wood because the goal is to pick higher and not make the 10th seed to be discarded early.
Why pass on Brooks? He’s young, this team needs a pure shooter and he showed real flashes toward the end of the season. KPJ and Green have potential but aren’t good shooters yet. Gordon will likely be traded. This team will be starved for 3pt shooting.
I’d definitely try to keep Olynyk, have AS come off the bench to start the season. Kelly will likely be a nice trade asset come the deadline for contenders, may be able to get a decent future pick out of him, so I’d hate to see him go for nothing.
Is Thomas big enough to play SF? I can see him as a SG who gets a few minutes at SF but as a pure SF? If we can trade Gordon for a PF that would be ideal. Bradley if he can get any asset we pick him up otherwise decline. House being traded for another PF and an early 2nd. (Greg Brown) would be great.
Now that is a team that will get you another top 5 pick. With a few clutch rests for players and inevitable injuries you will have a super young team some nights to get good experience and losses. This team will be stacked in a few seasons. Then you can use the cap space gained from Wall leaving.
KPJ & Green should just come off the bench and let all the kids play together KPJ & Green should know Wall & Gordon are out the door the second we find a offer. There should be no feelings of disrespect. KPJ & Green should know it’s just business and the keys are theirs once they are traded
The organization needs to get on the same page as Wall. Both sides know this relationship has no future. But we need Wall to show that he can still be a good starting PG and not the chucking mess we saw after the first month last year. If he plays well for a few months we will likely be able to move him to a contender without having to waste any assets maybe even get something positive back. Gordon really needs to be moved however we can before the season, there's a logjam right now. House can GTFO for whatever. Bring Back Olynyk to see if he can pick up where he left off and we can turn him into an asset also. Augustine could provide some nice stability off the bench until we need his contract for a trade. Not a fan of just letting the kids run wild from the jump.
Trade Gordon and House. Re-sign Olynyk. Decline Bradley. Keep Augustin for leadership and the eventual Wall injury. PG: KPJ / Wall / Augustin SG: Green / Christopher / Brooks SF: Tate / Martin PF: Olynyk / Garuba C: Wood / Sengun I’d have Sengun in the bench unit to start with, his skills fit well with Garuba. He will need some time to adjust, could take over the starting role in year 2.
It makes me sad to not see Nwaba in any of these lineups, he was very solid when healthy. I really like our young team (although fine with seeing Wall, Gordon, and/or House gone).
