Hey guys, Anyone have experience with using their products? As a kid I didn't have any formal education in Vietnamese and never practiced, so over time I pretty much forgot it. I was wondering if maybe this is the way to go to get decent exposure to vocab, diction and watever else, without going to a night class. If you did use this, what language did you get? Did you feel you got your money's worth? Hows the explanations in the lessons like? Is it just mindless repetition like any other language aide? Any feedback would be much appreciated!
I've used the Swedish one in the past and really liked the results. Everything is in Swedish, absolutely no English. I learned a ton in just a few weeks so I definitely recommend them.
Aren't the Rosetta Stone programs really expensive? I see the infomercials for them all the time and always think they look good. I'm somewhat familiar with Spanish --- I can read most of it and speak a little. Would definitely like to become mildly fluent at some point in my life.
When Oink had free leech a few years back I downloaded the whole Rosetta Stone series. I still haven't actually got to using any of the programs though. But it was like a 7GB download.
Yea, I have all of them. Only problem is I've never actually tested the program myself. The files are all basically zipped in RAR format. You would need some technological know how in order to mount and burn them on a disc. But yea, email me if you want it. You can test it and let me know if it works. But it was originally on Oink, so it is a legit file for sure.
I've been using the German one. My wife speaks passable German so I figured it was worth it to try and learn some myself. I'm still relatively early in the lessons, but I think they're pretty good. My only complaint is that they might err on the side of too easy. (meaning, it's easy to pass the tests but not necessarily as easy to remember what you're suppposed to be learning.) But I've enjoyed them so far.
I only know from hearsay of a friend. She swears it was great, and her French sounds pretty good to my untrained ears. I think outside of immersion that is the series I would try to learn with.
i am doing spanish right now. just finished the first lesson. taught me the basic stuff like el nino come.
I need to check into Spanish . . . and japanese since I'm into the Anime thing about now Rocket River
I procured the Italian version probably a year ago but I never tried it. I'm thinking about busting it out for real this time.
From what I've heard, Japanese is on a entirely different level from all other languages. Seriously, heard it was unbelievably difficult compared to other languages. I've been interested in it for the same reason as you, but never knew the best route to go.
