The GM for the Rangers was on the Dan Patrick show and DP kept asking him about Roger. Nothing groundbreaking but he mentioned that Clemens would be a player they would be interested in. Well, duh!

My gut is telling me that Clemens will go to the Rangers over the Yanks .......... but my gut is also hungrey.

Turn off the lights, the part's over. Trade Rocket. Trade Viz. Does Bigg want to go 'home'? If so, send him along. Lamb should bring back a prospect of value.

Start over, because the party? It is so over.

Am I the only one that realizes that Roger, at this age, is not half the pitcher in the AL that he is in the NL???

Roger is one of the greatest pitchers of all time... but just look at his last few years in the AL compared to these last two years in the NL... there's no comparison. He didn't all of a sudden become "better" to lower his ERA below 3 for the first time in six years (with Toronto).

Granted, he'd be better than what the Rangers have right now... even though I think Kenny Rogers is great... but you have to realize how much better an average AL team's lineup is compared to the NL, and I just can't see him maintaining the sub 2 ERA having to face those lineups every single night.

I believe he has value -- to a contender, even specifically to a contending team who lost their 2nd sacker for two months...

That would be the Rangers and Roger's problem.

Randy was king in the NL too. I think any power pitcher will be. I think even Colon won 20 over here that one year.

I think we've found the 8th inning guy and our bench is above-average (I dunno about stat-wise this season, but generally, they're good bench players).

Agreed... I was just providing a reality check for any fan of a team that gets him, thinking they're getting the Roger of last year and this year who's gonna strike out over 200 and have a 2.-something ERA.

(I still can't believe how amazing he was each and every night last year, and so far this year... he could have broken every single record by now had he pitched his entire career in this league).

Dustin Diamond? How can this not be good?

In all seriousness, if he wants a trade, the Rangers are a better fit for us than the Yankees. There's no question they have a better depth of top prospects.

If we got offered a package like Adrian Gonzalez, John Danks, and Nix, and we're as far out as it looks like we may be...I don't see how we could turn that down.

I disagree. 8th inning guys IMO should have "nasty stuff".(i.e. Dotel, Lidge...) We have 6th and 7th inning guys. As for our bench... speed, defense, switch hitters, and a power bat. If we say Lamb is our power bat, Viz is our veteran presence l/r... Actually, these two guys should be used as pawns in a trade.

Major questions to be answered ASAP!
Do we bring back Clemens, Bidge?
    Do we start over?

    I would not re-build... I would re-load.

Here is what I would like to do

    Starters
    O
    Pettitte
    Clemens/FA frontline starter
    Backe
    young guy

    Relievers
    Lidge
    Power arm
    Wheeler
    Qualls
    Leftie FA
    young guy

    CF- Taveras
2nd- Bidge or Burke or Trade
    1b- Berkman
    lf- FA/trade but bats left
    rf-fa/trade bats left
    3rd-FA/trade
    SS-Everett
    C-Q/trade/ FA
    P

bring back Lamb, Viz, add the rest

Trade Ensberg and Lane. Balanced line-up (left/right). Speed guys.

    You've been spoiled by them.

There's a reason why many teams don't have 8th inning guys who have "nasty" stuff... cause if they did, they'd be good enough to be closers (or at least good enough to be given a chance at closing).

Tom Gordon has good stuff... but not as "nasty" as Lidge or Dotel... yet he's your 8th inning guy on the team which can afford a bullpen full of closers. Mike Timlin is the setup guy on the world champs... and neither him nor their closer have "nasty" stuff.

Strikeouts, just like HR's are sexy... but if a guy does his job well (and Wheeler has done that for a very extended period of time this year), he deserves the chance to keep that role.

We need a left-handed specialist more than we need a set-up man.

As far as Lamb/Ensberg... I'd bet on Lamb getting traded before Morgan simply because he'd be a better fit as a DH in the AL. Frankly, Morgan has put up great numbers so far this year... he's right at the top of the NL for production as a 3rd baseman (especially since Rolen is hurt). What you could get back in a trade for him would not be that much better than just keeping him in the lineup.

We keep winning like we have the last two series and they can stick these possibilities up their ass. :D

There's only so much they can say about Larry Brown, Shaq and the officiating, and how good the Spurs are... this is truly a slow time for sports that ANYTHING (even a story based entirely on conjecture from a Dallas newspaper) can become headline news.

I would put my dollars to work here or make a trade. 8th inning guys are that important in my book.

And our 8th inning guy has been doing a good job in the role.

I like your other ideas though.

They weren't "vital" enough in 02 or 03 (when we had the best) to combine with a decent offense to lead us to the playoffs... and we made it there last year w/ Dan Miceli in the second half.
