Rockets waive Marcus Thornton

Well, there goes our only consistent scorer off the bench. If he was a problem, then it makes sense. If he wasn't as Cod suggested, then I'm perplexed by the move. Hopefully, we find a hungry D-Leaguer that can light it up.

 

lol its sad the only way for KJ to see minutes is for Rockets to start cutting their players mid-season.

 

Thornton was pretty much this decade's version of Eric Piatkowski for the Rockets. Both were established veterans, still in their primes (or near prime), signed to be snipers, only to end up shooting far below their career standard.

Marcus shot .338 in HOU compared to his career .362 (pre '15-'16).

Piatkowski really screwed us with his .352 shooting vs his career .399

 

Maybe T-Mac was right about the sightlines.

I'm surprised at this. It will be interesting to see if we make another move to try to avoid the luxury tax.

 

Wow- I guess teams did not want to help Le$ get out from under the Lux tax.

I don't find it surprising. He b!tched about his team after he was traded. I take it GM's are not fond of that kind of behavior, especially for someone who had done nothing but jack up shots and look upset with his role on this team.

Granted, he was no worse than Brewer but at least Brewer plays hard 100% of the time even if he's not shooting.

 

What's the point cutting MT if no one was going to claim him?

 

Strange conclusion DD. Maybe no one thinks Thornton is good enough to pick up right now?

 

Marcus Thornton is a good player for me.

I will miss him for sure.

He'll be on a roster before tuesday

 

To do him a solid such that a playoff team could sign him as extra firepower? You know, the anti-Le$ storyline...

 

Really nothing has made since all year.

 

I could see the clippers signing him after what he did to them in that last game just to spite the rockets!

 

Wanna bet? He will be picked up, but the money that he signs for will not come off of Houston's bottom line now.
