So why did they waive Nunnaly when they were able to trade Melo? I thought if Melo was traded they would be able to keep Nunnaly?
I have to say, this has been one of the weirdest offseason/season in terms of front office moves I can remember for the Rockets.
Why can't the Rockets just re-sign Nunnally to a new 10-day contract? We waived House to sign Clark to his 3-year deal, as I recall.
We can (after the league offices reopen) but he is getting crunched out of a portion of his ten day. I believe the league only allows two, so it effectively shortens his audition.
Yes what was the point of trading Melo today rather than keeping him (which is what the Bulls intend on doing and saving him for the trade deadline)? Makes no sense at all especially since we got NOTHING in return for trading Melo. The damn Thunder got a rotational piece in Schroder from Melo's contract. I don't get how a 1 year vet min Melo couldn't have gotten us a 2nd rounder/anything. Why the rush? Why today????
The Rockets have been trying since game 10 to get SOMETHING for him. Atlanta wanted to dump Schroeders future money (owed $15.5 mill each season, for 3 seasons). The deal saw Atlanta DUMP Schroeder, pick up a 1st round pick from OKC and also get Justin Anderson. To be clear, OKC didn't get 'something' for Melo. They paid to dump his contract, but saw the opportunity to bring back an overpaid backup PG who can't shoot - which they jumped on because it fits their system of having a PG who can't shoot.
