It's completely unfair to judge him off such little sample size, but he looked like he did not belong at all. Maybe he was just nervous as heck...

Yeah, small sample size for sure. I was dead wrong about Hartenstein and now he’s an all-star in the making :)

There is little reason now to replace William Howard's two-way roster spot. Two-way players are still ineligible to play in the playoffs unless they are converted to a standard NBA contract; and with the Rockets having a full 15-man NBA roster, that's not going to happen. Also, any substitute two-way player signed at this point would be an unrestricted free agent come October, so there is no advantage to having someone in Orlando other than to be just another body in practice, scrimmages and the 8 seeding games. Probably not worth it, most notably from a health standpoint. That guy would be more of a risk (another human who could get/spread COVID) than an asset.

Agreed that there is no financial reason to sign another 2 way contract.

But it is an opportunity to add a young talent which may still affect the 15 man roster as contingency to potential pandemic and/or injuries before the postseason.

Both Russ and Luc also still not available. More than likely they will be but cannot rule out possible unavailability as well. Covid-19 is too unpredictable.

There is a reason NBA is allowing the 2 Way Players to participate in Orlando bubble.

What about getting 2-way player some more money. Sign him now and give him whatever you are allowed to and you would be beating the market for 2-way players?

Possibly. But Michael Frazier is clearly ahead of William Howard in line for an NBA roster spot if it came to that.

If we needed our 17th man to actually play meaningful playoff minutes, then things are basically $%*&'d anyway.
There's a decent argument for this. The Rockets have historically liked to get as many guys as possible into their system to get a better look at them. But these are strange times, so I don't fault the Rockets for not taking that approach now.
