It's ok. As part of the contract Rivers has to use the broom closet instead of the locker room and he has to fly on SW airlines. He wont be having direct contact with the team other than during game.
This ain't the Clippers or the Wizards... it's the Rockets.. if he cant be successful here as a guard... that might be a wrap for him then..
I actually like this deal. Rivers has a lot of skills we lack right now - he's a good ball handler (something even Eric Gordon, for example, struggles with, let alone Brandon Knight, Gerald Green, etc. who are basically good for a few dribbles uncovered). His jump shot is mediocre, but he is a capable three point shooter and good finisher near the rim. He has speed, is a decent defender, and plays with heart. I think he'll be an improvement over anything we have on the roster and give CP3 more time to rest before returning.
After watching the Texans stink it up today this is great news. We can definitely use Rivers right now to better this team. Enough of all the drama with who likes who. These guys are mature enough to be professionals and put aside old rivalries and work together, which I am sure they will.
The free agent guards suck, there weren't any better options who have proven anything in the NBA. Austin is not a good NBA player, but he has proven that he can get to the basket and became a better finisher as time went on, and he has proven that he can shoot the three point shot well over about 2.5 seasons with the Clippers. His shooting so far this season is an outlier compared to his previous 2.5 seasons. He's not going to be good but it's not always about being good, sometimes it's just about being better than the alternative options, that's what Austin can do. The reality is the teams can't have good players at every rotation position, and sometimes you just need passable guys.
