Did you just say Draymond will post him up? LOL! When has Draymond posted up anybody? And oh yeah we are desperate.
Notice how much they emphasize Faried's offensive rebounding. Lets hope he helps on the defensive boards where we are getting dominated.
Not Anderson bad!! His defensive weaknesses aren't so bad for the Rockets - he is pretty good for a big at guarding the perimeter. So switching everything works for him. He isn't great on the block - but we swarm from the weakside anyway, so no big deal. He can't give us any kind of rim protection, but he can switch on the perimeter, get back and crash the defensive boards, and is still fast enough to beat most Cs down the other end anyway.
Worse. He is already known as having atrocious positioning and always late on help defense. Then I found this little gem from Kevin Pelton's ESPN article about him: This is aside from the fact that he is consistently ranked among the worst forwards in the NBA for advanced defensive metrics, which can admittedly be deceiving. But also, Nets and Nuggets fans seem to be in total agreement that he is truly terrible at every kind of defense except the very occasional weakside shotblocking. He is too weak to guard big guys. His positioning is bad for small guys. Bad on switches. Late on help. Honestly my mind is telling me he can't be that bad, but I've genuinely never seen someone flunk the simple, advanced and eye tests so badly.
Notes to Faried - we don't run complicated stuff - just make yourself available to dunk the ball and crash the board.
Yes, but there was no other choice. At least he can run the floor, rebound and dunk the ball. I think he will be able to run the pick and roll to some extent with Harden. Coach JB will have his hands full with him.

The solution is very simple. If we're going to drop the 5 and not switch then go get a 5 that can alter shots at the rim and can spot up and nail 3's. If we're going to switch everything, gotta get a guy that's effective switching onto smalls (faried/capela/nene ain't) but can still defend the post and rebound adequately and shoot 3's on the other end. Winslow and porter jr come to mind. Or trade for another superstar guard, move Harden to defensive 3, and in our small ball lineup, play Harden/Tucker at the defensive 4/5. Until we have the pieces to play 5 out and pick and pop for substantial minutes while maintaining at least rebounding neutrality in our switching scheme...then we are also-rans. Adding Faried only continues the pick and roll era....otherwise known as the also-ran era.
