Eh, i have the same doubt about the small lineup, but fwiw we could still slide Harden at the 3...i mean, for the way we play defense it may not be that big of an issue, maybe. As for Porter i agree, he would fit like a glove and wouldn't cost us Gordon and/or multiple picks so, i would be fine with him too, no question. In the end i think i'd still take Beal if possible and if the price wouldn't be incredibly high (which is very possible though). Personally i don't think Gordon will resign here so, turning him into Beal makes sense for me, in the end Beal is a better player than Porter, would still be a good fit for us (great shooter, can play off ball, ok defender and passer), and he would also be a terrific asset to eventually trade for a superstar. Let's say i'm glad i don't have to make a decision here
Haha for real, it'd be pretty tough decision to make. But I trust Morey knows what he's doing. Either way I'd be pretty intrigued by either.
I’ve never been sold on Beal as a star player, but swapping Gordon and trash for Beal and Mahinmi would make the Rockets appreciably better. Obviously not as good as a Butler/Dieng trade would have, but I’m fairly confident Beal’s game would flourish with CP3/Harden/MDA. He actually has a good iso game that’ll be useful vs the Warriors. We’ll just have to hope Ennis/Clark can replace Ariza’s contributions defensively come playoff time.
Meh. Not crazy about it. Im not worried about the age difference between Beal and Gordon given the Rockets window. I wouldn't be upset if that trade went down, but I wouldn't be elated either.
My exact reasons for not loving this trade. Beal is a slightly younger EGo. His role would be the same as EGo. Trade does not improve starting 5 OR defense. Plus Rockets have to eat Mahinmi contract AND give up 1st rounders. Trade only makes sense if 3rd team involved. Beal is a talent but not an upgrade, never mind a fit, for Rockets.
Beal is five years younger, more durable and better. There is no reason Beal couldn't start at the SG with Harden moving to SF. Beal could cut down on both Paul and Harden's minutes.
Beal is appreciably better than Gordon, particularly the Gordon that has struggled with his shot for 2 years now. It would absolutely make us better to swap Gordon and non-rotation pieces out for Beal. That said, I do get your point and agree that it's not the best case scenario upgrade.
They need to find a viable backup PG that can get minutes. TJ McConnell looks like he could fit into our TPE if the Sixers aren't going to play him. Don't need a world beater.
