The Rockets will most likely stash a serviceable PG or two like Ishmaeil Smith with the Rio Grande Vipers like last year and invite him to training camp at the beginning of the season.

Smith or a similar project PG would probably jump at this opportunity because he is basically the third string pg would will jump into a large role if Lowry or Brooks suffer an injury.

The available free agent PG's available would not benefit from being third sting on the Rockets bench taking up roster space and cap room from the Rockets.

Smith looks very solid as a pass-first PG and would fit well in our system. I would say it is pretty certain he will get invited to training camp and then play for RGV at the beginning of the season.

Man, I know everyone on the team could use a little more Head.

    HEAD is a BUST.

Sit them next to each other on the bench....we would have JOHNSON, HEAD

Agreed. I liked Temple when he came in for Lowry. I would LOVE him as a 3rd PG behind the two munchkins.

Although, with the Lowry offer, we have 2 legit PG's already.

Bench rotation of Lowry, Chase, Ariza/Battier, Hill/PPatt, Chuck/Andersen.
Kinda resembles a past Timberwolves starting lineup. :)

How about Ariza, David Andersen, and Jared Jeffries for Mike Dunleavy and T.J. Ford?

There's your 3rd point guard. And there's a small upgrade at the 3. And there's additional expiring contracts that are available to add to Battier for the big deadline trade.

Dunleavy is hurt too often. We need to keep someone that can play a little D since were lacking at the guard positions. So I wouldn't give Ariza up in that deal

Dunleavy had his 20PPG breakthrough season at two guard. He's 6-9 but he players better at 1 or 2 than as a forward.

Bcos if JT can do it, as well as laying his natural position, then no need to sign anyone else

Patrick Mills or Jeremy Lin if available. Ish Smith is Aaron Brooks without a J. No thanks.

I've been watching Ishmael Smith in the Summer League... and I'd prefer him. It's going to be a 3rd PG role, so... he's not going to make huge impact on the overall team performance...

Patrick Mills was drafted and signed last year by the Trailblazers.

If one of our PG's gets injured then you have Ish Smith running the plays off the bench. 5'11 pg that can't shoot. Yuck.

Mills is a restricted free agent. Blazers extended a qualifying offer but Mills hasn't signed. The last roster roster spot will come down between Mills and Armon Johnson their 34th pick from this draft. They like Johnson a lot and he's more of McMillan type of player than Mills is.

If Mills will be left out, expect Dallas to snatch him..as always.
