Unless we are getting a superstar back, I can't see any reason that Morey would get rid of either of those guys with the current contracts they are on. Both can get their own shot and shoot good from 3pt land. Both are considered 6th men of the year, so the only thing better would be an ALL-Star or SuperStar. Why would you trade either of them, mainly Lou, just because his contract is going to expire? Unless it's for a Superstar of course. Just to open up cap space when you don't have a superstar already agreed to sign would be crazy insane. Plus, Lou is getting up there in age. So even to resign him after his contract expires after next season, if that is what you want to do, would probably not be too much to compete against in the market. He won't be considering playing for non-contenders in his last few years, and most of the contenders won't have large salary slots available for him.
Beverley's winning impact has been (much) higher than Ariza's this season. Bev is a better defender, better shooter, better playmaker and better rebounder than Trevor is if we compare them with players at their positions. About Gallo as starting PF....As much as you complain about Anderson defensively, Gallo is not a tougher PF, neither a better rebounder (as PF), neither a bigger presence on the paint, neither a better 1on1 post defender (against starting PFs). And we need to get better at all that, more than we need to improve our offense. Gallo is the better all around offensive player; but we have other more important priorities, in my opinion.
That may or may not be true, but is irrelevant to my point. Pursuing Gallo has no relation to comparing Ariza to Beverley. 1.) I don't complain about Anderson defensively. 2.) I never said Gallo should come here and be the starting PF, frankly haven't even given much thought about who starts, rotations, etc. 3.) My only point is we have some money and I think we should pursue Gallo to add into the mix, not to replace anyone, except for probably Lou, who would have to go just to free up the money. 4.) While I agree Gallo doesnt fill our biggest needs, what are the alternatives we have here? I would love to hear them.
I like Gallo too, so I think he should take a smaller 1st year salary with a longer deal to make up the money so that we can keep Lou. That way he will be more on a contender. Otherwise let him go get all his money on a non-contender just like he is on Denver.
I dont think we need a versatile player as much as we need a floor spacing special specialist For this team next next to harden i think anderson is more valuable to us
Yeah i mean, i take for granted that we're going to to be in play for big names every summer, i think we'll always keep some sort of flexibility, that's why i don't see us keeping both Gordon and Lou (with a new contract)...that's just my two cents on the situation though, aside the fact that i'm not a fan of the player, Lou at 7x is ok regardless, but Lou at 15x (assuming this is close to what he'll be able to get next year) when you have already Gordon at 12x, Harden at 40x and Ariza + Beverley (in two years) at what? 20 together? Eh...that's a lot of money for the backcourt imo.
I would definitely agree with you on that. I wouldn't pay over 10 million for Lou, if that. Maybe 3/24 or something like that at his age. I don't think they will let Gordon or Anderson go anywhere unless it's for Lebron or KD. I think they want to build around our shooting, instead of just looking for allstars to replace either EGo or Anderson.
This would be doable with the MLE too so pretty good for us i'd say. I know i'm probably the minority here, but i still think Morey wants Llull to take that money to play that role...too bad this is not going to happen, i'm a big fan of this scenario but i'm starting to get somehow "tired" about the situation lol
Yeah I'm Lloll tired on Llull. Plus I don't think anyone will be taking that PG roll from Harden as long as MDA/Morey/Les are here. But this team is only 1 superstar away, one that takes a smaller than max pay, to being in the regular conversation with the Warriors, Spurs and Cavs, assuming we can get that player without giving up any key rotation players. But getting to that 20mil number or higher may mean that we have to give up someone of course.
Yeah, if we can get another star here we're definitely a top team, and i'd like to think Clint can still develop and make at least a decent jump as a player.
Next year I think Clint will add maybe 10 lbs of strenght, shoot 70% FTs, and develop maybe a consistent lane jump hook with the help of Hakeem or someone. I hope the following year he can gain a 10 to 12 foot reliable jumper. He's still young in NBA experience, and bigs develop slower. I think next year MDA will trust him to play 30 plus minutes, and if so, I think he can average 15 and 10/11 on the year...or better as long as we have Harden!
Danilo Gallinari looking for a 'Chandler Parsons-type contract' It’s widely expected around the league that Gallinari will leave Denver, and will have plenty of suitors — including the Clippers, Rockets, Celtics, Kings, Spurs and Heat — depending on how the rest of the market shapes up.
So who do the Rockets not have interest in, Lowry, Milsap, Gallinari, Melo, George, seems they're in on every big name FA or potential FA, which is good, hope they are able to build a real contender, as much as I liked the additions of Lou Williams, Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon, plus Beverley, i love CP3 and Harden, plus hoping they keep Ariza, and somehow keep Gordon, he was my favorite new player we acquired last offseason, second was Nene(this is when the season ended of course).
Those that find the Chandler Parsons, not the ones that pay them the max, are the ones that succeed long term. Sorry Danilo. =/
