Doesn't mean they support the rioting. None of your stats show the support of the rioting. You see, that's the problem. Uninformed people are still talking about the situation as "protesting for freedom." It's not a protest anymore. It might be at the beginning. It has deteriorated into violent mob rioting. Lots of Hong Kong people want it to stop.

Anyway, I don't want to debate politics with you. I am not pro or against it. I just think that the majority of people posting in this thread are too naive, if not plain ignorant, about what is going on. I believe if Morey knew how complicated it is, he wouldn't have twitted what he did.

And you have the statistics? And do you live in Hong Kong? If you too don't have the statistics how can you claim the "majority" of the population are against the rioting?? You commies have no logic at all.

The thing is the majority of you and HKers dun like Mainlainders, period. Whether it is the administration or tourists, citizens.

I know. This runs deeper. Somehow all the islanders like Taiwan, half peninsula inhabitants dun like the Mainland. (but Taiwan was economically dependent on the Mainland for years.)

It's not just politics, socially they do not like one another. That's fine. Let's work on that.

BTW the Xi extension is shocking at first but one can only hope, he wants stability.

Here's what the People's Daily think of Morey. http://en.people.cn/n3/2019/1006/c90000-9620340.html

People's Daily is the official newspaper/mouthpiece of the communist party in China. So what is printed there is usually the stance of top government officials in China. Basically says that if foreigners want to make money from China you cannot criticize China.

The communist party pretty much sees any form of criticism, disagreement, or push back against their policies from foreigners as an insult. And if any Chinese citizen does it then they are considered traitors.

President Xi of China expects absolute loyalty to him from everyone. All Chinese citizens, all Chinese companies, the military, the entire media. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...inas-top-state-media-outlets-to-boost-loyalty
    https://economictimes.indiatimes.co...y-to-communist-party/articleshow/65471728.cms

So if people are absolutely loyal then they wouldn't dare criticize any of his decisions and policies. Some defenders of Xi might say that is how Trump acts and thinks too. However Trump doesn't have the power over the country like Xi does.

Ok, I think we can all agree that this thread has gone way out of control, and has escalated into name-calling and personal sh*t.

This shouldn't be a conversation for the GARM, though I definitely think there is a conversation to be had here.

Although telling someone to "chill" usually has the opposite effect, lets just try to chill and wait for this thread to be locked and/or moved.
