The ideal scenario is the Rockets and Nuggets keep winning, with the Clippers slipping to 4th. If we win out this may be possible, and we'd only face 1 LA team in the playoffs.
Rockets won't win the chip if they duck the best. They need to be ready to face the 2 LA teams and MIL/TOR if they want to win it all. Trying to avoid the better teams is a poor attitude to carry into the playoffs.
Exactly!!! This the mentality that Morey has pushed, while everyone else were trying to avoid GSW, Morey called them out saying they wanted them.
Man, don't be stupid. Luck is a factor in winning championships. GSW won a chip while every team they faced had an injured cornerstone player. Rockets can beat both LA teams IMO, but that doesn't mean they need to play both teams. That's dumb. I'm not saying Rockets need to hatch a plan to avoid a team like the Nuggets did last year, but I'm not going to be out here cursing that they will potentially have an easier path to a championship.
I love Morey for basically saying he wanted GSW and wasn't afraid to say it, but Morey is not stupid enough to want his team to face every tough competitor in rout to the goal. Morey knew the NBA champion was going to be the winner of the Houston/GSW series.
Clips just lost to Suns. We are just 2.5 games behind the Clips, and Denver is just 1 game behind them. Clips have 5 games left, while we have 6
Having to face the best teams in the playoffs in consecutive series seems a little less grueling now because of the three-month break. Still not an ideal bracket, but less daunting than having played 82 games in the normal amount of time and then quickly starting the playoffs without much rest.
