except...he's careful with the ball WHILE STILL BEING 2ND IN THE NATION IN YARDS PER ATTEMPT. this isn't dink and dunk. he's hitting guys in stride on deep plays. his accuracy is unbelievable...i'd go so far as to say his accuracy is unprecedented among quarterbacks that are this athletic, otherwise. the man doesn't have an interception at all this season...and began his career with an NCAA-record 209 passes without throwing an interception. if he weren't looking downfield, that still would be amazing....but when you're 2nd in the nation in yards per attempt and do that?? ridiculous. i don't see any reason why a guy with that kind of accuracy while still throwing downfield won't be an NFL quarterback. what does he not do well that makes you think he won't be an NFL QB? this isn't VY with delivery problems...or a guy who can't throw deep...or a guy who just isn't accurate enough...or a guy who looks to run first.
Let's see how accurate he is when he plays a good team, and faces some pressure. TCU is not the same this year as it has been in the last 3.... A good story for sure, but I am anxious to see how he does when he plays the Big 12/10/9 DD
You should change that "except" to "not only that, but..." Like I said, I'm almost dead certain Griffin will have an NFL career. I'm just reserving judgment on his future as a QB until he plays a defense that doesn't rank in the bottom quarter of the NCAA.
I'm anxious to see this too...but he's not a freshman....once again: RG3 began his career with an NCAA-record 209 passes without throwing an interception. He faced some good teams over the course of those 209 passes, DD...including the #1 ranked Sooners in 2008. ....but he's clearly playing his best football right now...obviously.
The question mark about this kid as an NFL quarterback is how well and fast he can go through his progressions. If he can make decisions at NFL speed, he's going be insane.
Not sayin it to insinuate stereotypes or nothin, But its the truth..If this kid were white, we would be talking early round draft pick.. We wouldnt even be debating whether he would be a QB at the next level... Now I admit, most times its warranted... However, he's a natural QB 1st , athlete 2nd... Of course he didnt start his Baylor career that way but the guy has really come along way .... Not just numbers wise , but leadership wise...
If you want to go there, then we need to admit to ourselves that if he were white, he likely wouldn't be the insane athlete he is. From what I've seen of him (and what I haven't seen, i.e. this type of play against decent competition), I don't see him becoming a Pro Style QB. Has nothing to do with whether he is white or black, it's how he plays. I watched Kevin Kolb play under the same system with Briles, and I felt he was going to make a good pro QB. I watched Case Keenum play under the same system with Briles, and I felt (and still feel) he would never make a good pro QB. It's not about color of skin, it's about how well you think their game translates to the NFL.
