Glad to see Greg Smith signed ! Now he needs to get many experience in the D-League and use it in the NBA when signed.

Yay, I really liked this kid. He had length, height, and could really move for such a big/young guy.

I think Keith Benson is also still available, they should try to open up a roster spot for him.

Why is the NBADL not more of a true minor league where there is a "permanent" contractual relationship between the major league team and the minor league franchise?

Imagine if the Astros could just willy-nilly call up the best AAA prospects from any other major league team...

If Greg Smith is so good why did no one pick him up after we waived him? I thought he was gonna be Perkins 2.0...

There's only like 16 NBDL teams, so there wouldn't be enough anyway.

I like this system. Greg Smith is now getting a minor league job, if someone want to call him up to the big show, he shouldn't have any restrictions on getting that promotion. It's like the NFL practice squad approach.

Question is, why is baseball different? I'd say it's the development of skill involved that requires investment. Even HS and college stud players can take years to develop, if at all. And even baseball has the Rule 5 draft.

    1) nobody knows he exists
    2) he sucked during the limited minutes he got

Keyword in you post is "gonna be". Ideally, you'd want to lock him up for a long time for peanuts, rather than wait for him to mature and then enter into a bidding war with every other C-starved team in the league.

It sounds like the Rockets want to keep him on the radar. Hopefully, he'll turn into a good player that we can use.

Two answers perhaps: Fesenko (sp?) and Pryz ahead of him for teams wanting to short-gap fill the 5. BTW - - I was surprised Krylo wasn't a Rock???

I don't think he does THAT much.

The lockout and NO training camp, no summer league, no practices is gonna make a LOT of players look LOST and rusty.

In the last preseason game against the Spurs, Adrien owned Tiago Splitter on D. Spurs are coming up again. Lets see how he does against other centers and power forwards, NOT the BEST center in the game.
