I saw "Almost Famous" this weekend. Liked it a lot. I went to see "Meet the Parents" today. I was freaking loving it, until they had a problem with the projector, and I had to miss probably the last quarter of the movie.

I thought "Wonder Boys" was boring as hell.

    Don't diss "Boogie Nights". Ever.

I'm still planning on seeing "Remember the Oilers".

I'm almost positive "Best in Show" will end up being my favorite of the year, but I'll go ahead and list mine before I see it next week:

    1) Hurricane
    2) Meet the Parents (didn't even see the whole thing, and it still gets #2!)
    3) Almost Famous
    4) Nurse Betty
    5) U-571

I agree with RocketRiver. The Cell sucked!

Gladiator is by far the best movie I have seen this year.

    Scary Movie sucked.

    X-Men was mediocre.

I still have to see Remember the Titans. Last night it was sold out and I got to the theatre 20 minutes early.

I ended up seeing the Cell. It's decent if you are into those psychological homocide films. It's not a flick appealing to my taste though.

One movie I saw this year which was really good (I think it was this year) was Rules of Engagement. Great flick.

    Almost Famous : A
Meet the Parents: A for humor, but no social merit.

Almost Famous is a must see. All three of the main characters have depth in very different ways. Very touching. It's not a classic if you ask me, but it does make you feel something powerful.

I finally saw "Remember the Titans" over the weekend. I was literally teary-eyed the whole movie! One actually escaped my eye and ran down my cheek at one point (nobody saw though)...the first time that has ever happened to me. I thought it was wonderful. Great movie-going experience.

R95 -- where the heck are you seeing movies where it costs you 9 bucks?

Let's talk sleepers (movies you had low expectations, but were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed)for this year.

Chicago, San Francisco, and New York.

I have a bad feeling we're not too far off here in Austin, it's up to $7.50 at Barton Creek Square.

Top 5 in no particular order:

    1) Almost Famous (Kate Hudson is now on my top ten list of fine actresses)
    2) Chicken Run (don't laugh, it was a funny movie [IMG])
    3) Dinosaur (awesome animation; decent story)
    4) Meet the Parents (funniest movie this year)
    5) X-men (I used to read the comic and like the director)

Films I thought would suck, but ended up being good:

    1) Ghost Dog: The Way of The Samarai (I hate Forrest Whitaker, but this was really good)
    2) Pitch Black (I hope to see a lot more from Vin Diesal)
    3) Road Trip (looked like an American Pie-wannabe)
    4) Shanghai Noon (funnier than I expected)
    5) American Psycho (dark and creepy borderline black comedy)
