Teamwise, I've always thought the Rockets could have drafted much better.

However, Head will provide comic relief headlines and quips for years to come. :D

You have to take what you can get at pick #24. And you should never turn down Head. Never!

Besides, maybe we needed to pick up these guards before CD made any big move. Be sure to have the replacements there so you can ship out the others.

Head was a very good choice at the 24th spot. Big men taken there are projects at best. I think that they want to move Wesley and those minutes should go to Head. As someone noted above, he is our lone young player at guard.

Regret? No. We never even saw the guy (Luther Head) in action, so cut him a little slack. I think he'll be a good addition for the team. We do need another big man though, Lonny Baxter will do.

Simien can play one position, and would be third string, including being blocked by a 25 year old signed to a fairly large deal, and the other being signed 3 years into the future.

Head can play two positions and at those positions we have no one else under the age of 30 nor anyone signed longer than two years.

Miami is so excited about Simien they resigned Haslem and traded for Antoine Walker.

I think JVG drafted Head with the intentions of having him develop into our PG of the future. In a couple of years I believe he will be as he has shown all the tools to succeed in the league.

I like to call it the "qualities of 4":

he shot over 40% from the 3 and 2
    he averaged 4 rebounds per
    he averaged 4 assists per
    he has a 40" verticle
    runs the 40 in a 4 something
    wore #4 at Illi.
    :D

I too agree we should sign Baxter as backup incase something happens to Howard/Swift.

Yao, T-mac, and Swift are going to be fixtures at the 3/4/5 spots for at least the next five years.

David Wesley's old. Barry's old. Sura and Anderson are injury prone. Mike James is probably leaving after this year. Moochie and Ward are third stringers.

Taking Head in the draft will make sense in the future, and if you look forward, it should make sense right now.

Regret getting Head? Only if it gives us all a bad itchy rash.

Moochie and Baker will be gone by the trade deadline and keeping them now will pay big dividends later. There's no emergency to have everything settled now with minor players like Dion Glover and Lonny Baxter... those guys will still be available come February.

Maybe Ward will retire and drafting Head will make more sense.

Can we at least wait until training camp before declaring our draft pick a total bust?

I don't think anyone on this board saw Derek Anderson play last year. He is NOT an athletic finisher! He is NOT quick enough laterally anymore to be a solid defender. The assets he brings us are perimeter shooting and passing. NOT athleticism.

Man, I thought the Simien whining would stop after the draft dust had settled. Now we've got threads about wishing we had drafted him?
