I knew they made funny pointy headed dolls that look like that... first time I've ever seen the real thing. :( I'll try and remember to show it to my class tomorrow morning. We talked about Agent Orange earlier...

Well if it is due to agent orange then the U.S. government should pay to have the child flown to the U.S. for reconstructive surgery.

When I was in late junior high or early high school, I knew a Vietnamese kid with 6 toes on one foot (he had another foot too, with 5 toes on that one). He said it was because of Agent Orange.

I'm surprised that it would still have that effect after so many years. I don't know much about Agent Orange and its effect though. Very unfortunate.

something isn't right with the story.... if agent orange hasn't been used in 30 years then i can't imagine this kids development was affected by it ( can you spell propoganda...)

i think he suffers from craniosynostosis where parts of the skull fuse too early resulting in abnormal shapes...

I don't if the effects of Agent Orange or exactly how it works but I found this article from the BBC

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3798581.stm

it basically says that the effects are still common today

I don't know a whole lot about Agent Orange (except that it was actually intended as a herbicide instead of a conventional chemical weapon), but if it is a mutagen, then it's easy to see how those exposed to it can be giving birth to children with defects. Mutagens alter your reproductive DNA and you might not know it at the time. Those people who were exposed to it may just now be having kids.

Apparently the dioxin is still around and may be in water supplies to this day. :( KaiSeR SoZe posted a link above with more pictures... including another one with the bulging eyes. Sad. :(
