I don't think we really need another guard in the rotation. Maybe in the regular season, it would be nice to have someone else to rest Paul, and that's why we got MCW. As the team improves and we hopefully start building big leads by the end of the third quarter, we will be able to afford having MCW play 5-10 minutes in the fourth quarter. If Knight/MCW are unable to produce even that, I like George Hill in the buyout market (only $1m guaranteed next year, so wouldn't be painful for the Cavs to waive him), and Tyus Jones for a second rounder or some other low-value asset. Jones can be a pretty good bench PG, but he has lost his minutes to Rose. For the playoffs Harden, Gordon, Paul are enough for the 96 minutes at guard, plus the 10 minutes at small forward when we play 3-guard lineups.
I would also add Markieff Morris as a backup PF/C target. We would need to send Chriss, Anthony and Nene. Not sure Washington does that for a second, and we would not want to give a first. Maybe a second, rights to Llull and cash to cover Nene's contract for next year.
I heard on ESPN that Charlotte is trying to get Bradley Beal. Maybe we can help... Houston gets: Markieff Morris (final yr) Tomas Satoransky (final yr) Washington gets: Brandon Knight (final yr) Marvin Williams (2 yrs left) Jeremy Lamb (final yr) Marquese Chriss (final yr) Rockets future 1st round pick Charlotte 1st round pick Charlotte gets: Bradley Beal (3 yrs) Rockets get a 6'10" defensive forward & 6'7" passing point guard that shoots 41% from three over his career. Wizards get rid of Beal's contract. They get back all short contracts & 2 picks, so they can start rebuilding next yr. Hornets finally get Kemba an all star teammate. Rockets now have rotation of... Paul, Harden, Ennis, Tucker, Capela Satoransky, Gordon, Clark, Morris, Hartenstein Green
I didn’t look too deep into it but Brandon Knight is not in his final year, he has 2 years which automatically makes it not worth it for Washington to include Markieff and Satoransky.
You're right. I was thinking the 2nd yr was a team option. Damn, just saw it wasn't. That changes things slightly.
Would love to be a 3rd team for CHA blockbuster and get Marvin Williams. Fills a need, perfect for our system, expiring next year, and a vet instead of a dumb rookie.
We need a backup point guard as an insurance. I think Gordon has lost trust in us & MCW is not the answer.
Philly : Goran Dragic... Heat: Brandon Knight, Marquese Chris, Markelle Fultz, Muscala, Heat 2021 pick back Rockets : James Johnson, McGruder, Winslow Philly Get better with Dragic on the bench who can play both sg/pg. Heat: Get potential in Markelle and their pick back. Rockets: Get better denfisively with Winslow and decent shooters in McGruder and James Johnson.
Justin Holiday and DJ Augustin would both be nice backup PGs. Both are knockdown shooters and can provide 10-12 minutes to help rest CP3
Won't work. Winslow is poison pill with his extension. Counts as something like $10+ million incoming salary.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yab6pbxs We need to add a first maybe two. Orlando has to trade Vucevic to get something in return before he leaves and Fournier and Gordon are very similar but Gordon it's cheaper. That trade will give us more scoring from our bench.
