Houston man sues Raiders' DB Charles Woodson 2:07 pm ET, Tue, Nov 21, 2000 HOUSTON (AP) — Oakland Raiders defensive back Charles Woodson is being sued by a Houston man who contends he was injured in a fight last year at a bar. Joshua Brown, a former worker at the Daiquiri Factory, filed suit Monday in a Harris County civil court alleging his nose was broken during an attack involving a group of people including Woodson, a Heisman Trophy winner at Michigan and a two-time Pro Bowl selection since becoming the Raiders' top pick in the 1998 NFL draft. "Woodson acted in an unreasonable and imprudent manner,'' according to the suit, which seeks unspecified damages. "It's arguable that it was Mr. Woodson and his entourage. However, in the lawsuit we state that Mr. Woodson is responsible for the acts of his entourage,'' said Todd Ivey, Brown's attorney. The suit was not immediately assigned to one of four courts that handle such claims. The courts typically consider cases involving damages of between $500 and $100,000. Ivey said a citation would be issued for Woodson through the Texas secretary of state's office and delivered to the secretary of state in California, where Woodson lives. The process generally takes at least two to three weeks. If Woodson does not respond to the citation, Ivey said he would seek a default judgment. No criminal charges were filed against Woodson stemming from the alleged attack July 13, 1999. An attorney for Woodson characterized the lawsuit as "a risk-free attempt to go after the deep pockets of Charles Woodson.'' "This is just another attempt at an individual trying to extort money from an athlete,'' said Carl Poston. "It's unfortunate that the young man, Mr. Brown, sustained some injuries but those aren't caused by my client.'' ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1.
