Question re Yao: Can one learn a "Dominator" mentality, or is it innate?

That was the Asian Games. Yao clearly has shown an aggression problem in his early NBA career, something he needs to overcome if he is to prove that his hype is worthy with his on court play

Do you consider Jabar and Walton to be aggresive?

Jabar definitely was. He was constantly getting into fights, walking out of practice, etc. Jabar had a serious mean streak. Walton was known to throw an elbow with the best of them despite his hippie persona.

But it is unfair to compare players from that era to today. During the 70's into the early 80's, players were MUCH more physical and agressive. The game was simply more violent.

Today's teams, based upon rules set up by the NBA and a shift in demeanor, are not nearly as agressive as teams 25 years ago.

Yeah, like those 2 free throws at the end of the last game. Clutch. ;)

I think if JVG keeps telling our knucklehead backcourt to keep passing to Yao, especially at the end of games, Yao will do well. I think in the last game JVG just tore into the rest of the team that we had a 7'6" monster in the middle, and that they had to go to him until he dropped dead. They did, and he did well.
