My wife has McAfee Security Suite on her laptop. A few days ago I was viewing the results of the scheduled scan her laptop ran overnight. It said it found two trojans, but that no action was required. I ran a full scan right after that and it turned up nothing. Fast forward to today. A scan run last night turned up two trojans once again. I again ran a full scan on my own and nothing came up.

Did the program remove and/or quarantine the trojans or is it waiting for me to act? I assume since it said no action was required that the issue was taken care of. Her laptop is showing no ill effects and is running fine (knock on wood). Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

    Who knows. The program sucks.

Boot into Safe Mode With Networking (keep hitting F8 when you first turn on the computer), download Malwarebytes from Malwarebytes.org. It's free. Install it. Update it, then run full scan. Remove whatever it finds. Reboot back into normal Windows.

This is due to McAfee being total garbage

Install Malwarebytes and Avast free edition. Better, free and less of a resource hog

Thanks for the advice guys. I've done some reading on MalwareBytes and it appears to be everything you guys say it is. Looks like I'll be adding it to my wife's computer.

I've always had the paid AVG (and it's about to expire).

What are the advantages of the paid version? Is it worth it? I'm very lazy when it comes to computer maintenance).
