I am on record as a Ming supporter. Primarily because I think the Rockets need inside help. But your point is well taken...I think the Rockets should milk this windfall for everything they can get.

Hey, Krause - what's it worth to have the first pick? Wanna cough up Jamaal Crawford and a Lotto protected future 1st so we don't take the player you want?

By not taking the offer, Krause throws the door wide open.

I can see lots of possibilties...I just have a personal desire for low post presence.

    That's funny. :)

I think I'm gonna drink one more beer and then it's time for la-la-land.

    GATOR,
    Last post!

Already missing those dominating big man days, eh????

    LMAO:D

    Me too!!!

BUT, is Ming that guy? I just don't see Moses or Hakeem there.

I know that is not your expectation level, but I want that level from at least one position from this either via draft or trade.

    Am I greedy or what!

    Have a great night!!!

It was fun..I always enjoy an intelligent exchange. (That goes for you too BDJ & SF81)

Here's my (for now) closing comment.

Click on the thread below. I have made a fairly complete list of NBA centers to compare Yao with. I was somewhat surprised myself when the list was completed.

Anyway, glad to see respect for the low post player is NOT dead! Only hibernating in Houston.

    Good night! :)

In a perfect world, we could trade for Brand and move Taylor, but that will never happen. Brand means too much to the Clips and Taylor is coming off an injury.

I still think the best deal is:

    #1, #15, and Rice
    FOR
    #8, #12, Odom, and Maggette

Acquiring Odom would give us a great 3 man SF/PF rotation: Odom, Griffen, Taylor - minutes for everyone.
Acquiring Maggette would give us a great backup at SG & SF (no more small ball!).
I think the Clips would give up both because they already have Miles and they're bring in Marko Jaric.
Now, assuming all of that, you're left with #8, #12, and KT for trade bait that you could use to get size: Curtis Borchardt, Chris Wilcox, Nene Hilario, Amare Stoudemire, guys who block shots and rebound, who can take up Cato's slack.

In the end, I see my above trade proposal as this:

    We dump Rice
    We lose a non-lotto pick
We give up Ming, The Great Unknown
    FOR
Odom, a potential all-star at best and, at least, the point-forward we need to free up Steve
    Maggette, an exceptional backup
And one of the bruisers I listed above

In short, we get assists and muscle, the two things we really need and the two things Ming won't provide.

If we can end up with Odom, and use the Clippers picks to get Nene Hilario and the 7' Russian ballet dancer palying in Italy-Tsiki?

Then this would be an outstanding draft. In Odom we would have a known quantity, with two athletic players, one a banger in Hilario-255lb with 7% body fat!!!!! The other a 7' player - athleticm with good hops, to play the 3.....

I disagree with the Odom part. He shot 19% from the 3pt line last year. Rudy will love that.
66% from the Free throw line
    3.3 Turnovers a game

Plus you get all his baggage, which is well known as a 3 time loser with NBA drug testing. I'm sure the Rocks would love that too.

Does he have big potential - yes, he does.
Big downside - yes, he does.
