Trudeau, Macron, etc thought they were going to lecture Trump on tariffs and instead got the truth regarding existing trade inequities shoved in their faces. Way to go Trump! Nice to have a President with some backbone for a change. “We’re like the piggy bank that everybody’s robbing and that ends,” Trump said. Trump praised the G7 nations for what he described as their efforts to “take advantage” of weak U.S. leadership “I blame our leaders and I congratulate leaders of other countries for taking advantage of our leaders,” Trump said. “It’s going to stop. Or we’ll stop trading with them. And that’s a very profitable answer, if we have to do it.” Trump said that America’s trading partners would be making a mistake if they retaliated against new U.S. tariffs. “If they retaliate they’re making a tremendous mistake because you see we have a tremendous trade imbalance,” he said. “The numbers are so much against them, we win that war 1000 times out of a 1000.” President Trump’s public comments Saturday morning reflected his aggressive approach with world leaders Friday night. In private conversations with leaders from France, Canada, the U.K., and Japan Friday, Trump countered complaints about U.S. trade policy with detailed lists of what he described as unfair trade practices and failures to meet security commitments, according to a person briefed on the matter. “If they thought they were going to lecture Trump on the glories of free trade, they got a rude awakening. He came to a gun fight armed with a stealth bomber,” one U.S. official told Breitbart News. http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...r-be-the-piggy-bank-that-everyone-is-robbing/
consider the source, the purveyor of fake news, intellectual dishonest. no better eg than the dotard, who back in Feb/Mar, called for a trade war, then his minions (Kudlow, Ross) had to walk back his comments before this G7 meeting, called for high tariffs against our allies, only to give in to other leaders during the G7 meeting, when he pitched for "no tariffs" to them https://www.thedailybeast.com/report-trump-pitches-no-tariffs-at-g7-meeting after a tense meeting on trade at the summit in Quebec, at a private gathering with Trudeau / European leaders, the dotard suggested“We should at least consider no tariffs, no barriers—scrapping all of it,” a stark turnaround from his recent tough talk on trade imbalances. it'd appear that, at the G7 Summit, the ignoranus (ignorant and an *******) Trump was schooled/snookered by the Trudeau & European leaders.
Um, are you aware that there were existing tariffs on US goods? That's why Trump put the new tariffs in in the first place. Trump wants a level playing field, so yes, scrapping all tariffs (on both sides) would be a win for the US.
where are you avoiding my point that Trump had shown to be a weak SOB, at the G7 meeting, when he caved in to Trudeau and the European leaders ?
Are you really that dense? He did not cave at all. He offered to remove tariffs if they remove tariffs in kind. In case you weren't aware, that's the goal here. If he caved, do you really think Trudeau would be badmouthing him after the meeting? Turn off CNN.
Did someone quote an article from CNN or do you just assume people who discredit Breitbart watch CNN?
The majority of sources referenced in D&D are CNN, NYT, or WAPO, and y'all take them as gospel. They are biased trash using unnamed sources who have had to run numerous retractions. I post an article from Breitbart and instantly the source is mocked. It's a double standard.
who is the weak leader ? the weak leader could not leave the G7 summit fast enough, relieved that he doesn't have to face the tough crowd; they are the antithesis of sycophants like Pau Rian and O'Connell
The picture you posted looks as if Trump is the center of attention to whom the group is trying to speak to. So, hardly looks like a weak leader to me. Looks like a self-assured alpha who isn't capitulating like former US presidents.
the one that has zero power to change the tariffs of their country. Those leaders gave that power away to an unelected commission.
yet, the weak Trump caved in to them, flip-flopping his position before the G7 summit! that's what weak SOBs do !
It's hard to change your mind when your entire government is run in Brussels and takes 5 years to pass a law regarding bananas.
