Good idea, poor execution. It started with Brent Barry who was actually quite good at play by play and commentary, however, that wasn't the point. The idea was free flowing conversation like Bagwell gives. Just loosey goose and that never materialized. Some like Webber got much better through the mechanic though. I remember liking the wnba adds who seemed to add some insight. There was no reason to tune in from an entertainment perspective. R rated would have helped. Which is where HBO could step in, but doubt it would help.
It was hilariously bad sometimes (most of the time?), but I didn't mind it. I don't care that much about nationally televised games not including the Rockets anyway. It was good comedy. I still remember Nate Robinson's commentary. It was dumb, disjointed, and bonkers and I kind of liked it.
Morons Only Brent Barry No Enthusiasm will not be missed with his monotone voice. The dude is dead inside just like when his wife left him for Tony Parker
TNT sure like hiring Low IQ Basketball Players. Reggie Miller, Shaquille No Neal Hire Kobe, he is so smart, it's unbelievable. Move TNT to LA just for Kobe, Fire Shaq already, such a hater, interrupts constantly, b****es and moans.
thank God...it was terrible, horrible, awful, and disrespectful to my ears on so many levels I should never have to be subjected to the likes of Nate Robinson calling a game on national TV glad they tossed that in the garbage where it belongs...they better not ever do something so foul and disorderly again
The idea that former players could provide some deeper insight on the game itself, the current players, peel back the curtain etc. is interesting enough. The outcome of non-broadcast savvy dudes 3, 4 at a time trying to talk over each other and joke around for 3 hours was dumb. That’s what we do at home with the homies. That’s not sports entertainment.
Oh, so this year they will pay real professionals to be knowledgeable about the teams and players, actually watch the game, and use words to describe the movements and events happening on the court in real time? This is a groundbreaking direction from TNT.
Sad to see it go, loved the takes. Mob rule and whining over quality basketball discussion wins again
