So a kid does exactly what any decent human being should do in that situation, and suddenly the announcers start sucking each other's dicks.

    I don't get it.

Most of 'em will be too excited and pumped with adrenaline to even stop and notice that sort of thing.

We have low standards of decency for kids in our society. They're expected to be selfish.

Let's suppose instead of it being two children involved, it was two adults. How would people be describing what happened then?

Maybe because.. he's a kid? What's not to understand?

Good story, even if the usher was the one who demanded he return the ball. Glad the kid got rewarded, especially in light of what the woman at the Astros game did.

this was my first thought also. there's a reason kids are spoiled and have a sense of entitlement. they learned early that if they pout and cry long enough, they'll get what they want.

Jeebus there's a bunch of cynical asses on our board. It's the Hangout afterall, so I guess I shouldn't expect more.
The young kid was understandably upset after being so close but failing to get something he really wanted. At that age you get emotional over things like that. He didn't throw a tantrum. He leaned into his mother and cried a bit.
I see news everyday about people getting blown to bits. The news is totally lacking in good news. Let us enjoy the rare ones we get. Sheesh.
