It's not a 20 year grudge. It's a 20 year process leading up to a Trump presidency. Hilary's nomination is part of the blame and Democrats have eyed her potential historic presidency since 2000 and really before
Hillary has been cultivating herself, and the party has been grooming her as well, to be president ever since Bill stepped down. And why not? That is rather the function of political parties -- to identify and promote highly qualified members for office. And, she was a very promising candidate. She had very good name recognition (like Oprah does now), she had White House experience from being an active First Lady, and she was a perfectly intelligent and capable lawyer in her own right. With some grooming -- a stint as Senator here, Sec of State there -- she builds a very strong resume to be as prepared as possible to be president. This is what professional politicians (and all career-minded people) do. They find roles of increasing or varied responsibility to give them the experience to be successful at the next level. W, for example, become governor first to build up to a presidential bid. Bill Clinton hopped from Attorney General to Governor to President. Obama went from Illinois Senate to US Senate to President. All these guys had their party see potential for them to be successful and helped them get elected. Now that Hillary Clinton does it, it shouldn't suddenly become distasteful. For 20 years, though, Fox has been telling us it is distasteful; that she's been handed the Senate position to trick people into making her president; that she was named Sec of State just to trick people into making her president. As if we haven't been doing this for the party stars forever.
Based solely on the volume of solicitation emails in my in-box, Kirsten Gillibrand is already running hard.
She isn't a politician. She is Bill Clinton's wife. We wouldn't know her otherwise. Her career starts at First Lady. You comparing her career to guys starting from the bottom is ridiculous. They placed her in NY to eventually run. Edit: some up and comer might get placed in a county judge seat. Not the US Senate
A Yale law graduate and trial lawyer isn't a career? She was a middle class public school kid who got into Yale law and was a top graduate all through her own individual academic merit .
Every political career starts somewhere that isn’t in politics. Necessarily. I don’t understand your argument. You could always say “Person A would never have become president if X, Y, and Z didn’t happen”. Virtually every person who reaches a high station in life had fortuitous circumstances that allowed them to get there. Singling our Hillary Clinton because her path started with her being married to a politician makes little sense to me.
Would we know who the hell George W. Bush is if it wasn't for his very accomplished father? Would he have ever won the Texas governorship otherwise? Speaking of, now George P. Bush is Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, his first gig in public service. Do you suppose that maybe possibly some power broker put him in that spot because he's the son of Jeb Bush and they want to build up his resume so that he too can be an accomplished politician? Maybe Governor of Texas, maybe more? Just because you used connections to jump the competition does not mean you're not a politician or you're not serious about your profession. The guys who are not serious are the "outsiders" like Trump who get elected to "shake things up" because they don't know jack-**** about governance and will disappear from public service again when their term is over. Hillary had an advantage being Bill's wife, but she put in the work as Senator; she put in the work as Secretary of State. She even put in work as First Lady. She had one of the most influential voices in defining what the DNC stands for. She is a politician, and one of the titans of politics of my lifetime. You don't like her and that's fine -- I don't like her either -- but she is not that special a case; the thing that is special about her is that she's had more success than most, even falling short of the presidency.
Yes George Bush is in the same boat but none of your examples match a first lady being placed in US Senate seat to eventually run n 8 years. Then after blowing that running a campaign like a victory lap the party goes in the bag for her again. Democrats deserve Trump
She wasn't placed in the Senate. She ran for an election and run. Being the first lady wasn't her only qualification. She had many years of public service. I say that as someone who doesn't like Hillary. I also thought she wasn't really from NY and only recently moved there. So I didn't like the idea of her running as a senator from NY. Yet, once elected she had very high approval from those she represented.
How many started as first lady going to senator of a state like NY? Just name a politician with an equivalent start The only reason we know her is because of Bill. Even W started in small state positions. It's not the start. It's the obvious plan for her to eventually run for president
So? People who weren't the First lady run without primary opposition all the time and all over the country. Also, the argument would hold more weight if she had gotten elected to the Senate and did a crappy job and was hated by the people of the state she represented. But that isn't what happened.
She was the primary sponsor on 16 bills that were enacted into legislation. Her voting record is also available online if you'd care to check it out..
No gwb isn't in the same boat. GWB from birth had the upper hand signficantly. Hillary was a middle class public school kid who got into Yale Law by her own hard work. Bush Jr got everything handed to him including his college degree.
@fchowd0311 Who was the more probable Victor Gore or Trump W is much better campaigner Hilary's loss is historic
