Sure. Your own article proves it true. They don't WANT them necessarily to be the candidates (harder to control, etc), and didn't bring them into the picture themselves. Since they have grassroots support, the establishment doesn't have much choice. The GOP is just trying to make the best out of it.

I don't know. Most of the members of the Republican party in the past that I had some respect for, guys like Everett Dirksen, for example, would be kicked to the curb by today's GOP. Even Nixon, for whom I had an intense hatred at the time, wouldn't be accepted in today's GOP. The Republican Party has become a joke. A dangerous joke, and it's a real pity.

Yeah, it's just strange. Usually when you have logically challenged populism it involves the poor getting some carrots from whoever is trying to take control. The current GOP is promising to take away carrots for the voters (ie give less to most people) and still there is a base of support (other than the mega rich who of course would support it). Can't figure it out.

One thing Glynch is consistently right about, is that the rich have convinced the conservative poor to vote their way. I don't know if its principles or the promise that the American dream can happen to them or what.

Because Red blooded Patriots know that it's un-American to help out the poor.

Those suckers made their bed. It aint on me to bail them out with handouts!
