He took yesterday's one run loss for granted. Put Maton in as the fireman with multiple runners on base and as expected, Maton let inherited runners score...like he has all season. He's done so 55% of the time so more than likely we were going to lose the lead in that situation. With the offense struggling mightily, that's practically game over. Neris, our best reliever has a knack for getting out of those situations would've been perfect but he's so rigid in his ways and strictly follows his pitcher cards. He's always been a horrible strategist and adapting in-game.
It's mind-numbing to try and figure out when and why Dusty will try to apply statistics in his favor. It's September, we're in the middle of a pennant race, and he's still saying things like, "Everybody on my team gets to play." There simply is nothing we can do other than just hope that this team figures out a way to hit and pitch consistently over the next 26 days, otherwise they will be watching the playoffs from home. And given the finite length of this team's championship window, wasting a year with the talent we have on the roster should be met with serious anger from Crane.
Crazy how the Yankees started a rookie catcher who made his MLB debut the first game of this series on Friday. They didn’t even make him sit on the bench for several months first so he could “learn like a backup QB”. What idiots! His game calling was so trash this series, just look at all those runs we scored… Luckily we have Maldy back there though guys!
