So you need the heat and humidity to be well conditioned? It's not an added bonus if you ask me. Gary will come out and say the same, "This one's on me."
No, but many here would use that as an excuse if they ended up losing.... "Gary had this team practicing in the bubble all training camp, no wonder they looked exhausted... Gary doesn't know what he's doing..."
people will find an excuse no matter what. It's ridiculous to blame the hamstring injuries on practicing outside.
Rugged, tough, and durable are not words usually associated with athletics in Houston. Maybe the heat and humidity just melt humans.
Blaming and suggesting the heat/humidity isn't helping any are 2 different degrees, just to clarify. Was just tossing the thought out, not giving an official athletic trainer advice or anything.
What about Cushing? He just started practicing last week. He has lost ten pounds, not on steroids. Can he perform at a high level without them? Any info? I heard he went through MMA training in the offseason.
He lost the weight intentionally this offseason. He's got to be ready to cover out to the sidelines in this scheme. If he showed up last year smaller, that would have been a case of roid-shrinkage. People, IMO, were way too harsh on him last year. My only concern with him is that knee. Otherwise, I fully expect a strong showing from him.
From what i've been reading, the turf inside the practice bubble is hard on the player's legs and they actually prefer practicing outside.
I'd imagine players will always prefer to play on grass. Too much attention is being given to this whole inside/outside workout and suggesting that outside workouts are the cause of these strains. These guys are having to ramp up their workout schedule in a shorter period and are not as football ready as they typically would have been with offseason workouts. I know these guys worked out on their own but it's still not the same.
Maybe the video on his web site is from last year. I don't know; I assumed it was recent. It was very impressive in any case. I hope he returns to his rookie form (without drugs) because he was awesome. Last year, not so much, pretty ordinary. I really want him to do well.
