Nah, only 16 games, if this were any other sport sure, but the NFL is a sprint and you'd like to have these games. while I'm sure the Texans are the best team in the division, that braindead playcall ruined it. It would have been better if Kamara caught the ball for 5 yards, broke every tackle, and took it in for a TD because then I can just shrug and go "Amazing player, wish he played for us," and move on. The result tonight just continues the trend of dumb mistakes in clutch moments.
That kick would have been good from 65. He put everything he had in that kick. RAC needs to be held accountable for this though. It's like clockwork.
I just told my girlfriend when they scored with 37 seconds left and she said “game over” I told her “nope Brees will drive and they will win on a long fg” like you said that’s the Texans Heartbreak way !!!!!
I don’t think they knew they had a timeout remaining. I’m almost certain someone told them they didn’t have a timeout. It’s speculative on my behalf but I’m giving this coaching staff the benefit.
Once he slides and clearly gives himself up, the play ends automatically - even in the pros. Touch or no touch, they still can call the timeout there.
You'd think after parroting most of Bellicheats sayings, that these guys on the sidelines would pay closer attention to details. It's too bad Shane Lechler isn't there to advise them on in game situations/ reviews/ timeouts like he had in the past. How about handling those late game situations on Defense differently just once do the opposite. Oh well. The positives- this team has Watson and I'm liking our running backs. Negatives- 6 sacks but only 1 was Watson's fault. He didn't hesitate to take the 3 yard dump off to the running back. The 2 most dangerous hits were Watsons fault on the dive for the TD and attempting to tackle the DB. Jason Street became paralyzed for doing that. Don't try to do everything, dearest Watson. Lay back. I doubt B.O.B will trade you away for a 4th rounder. Fixable some what: Less playing time for Colvin let the rookie get toasted learn on the job.
Im just as unhappy with the outcome but Im not going to pretend I know football more than the organization. Give me a break. Would you rather play closer and get ran by for a longer pass play? Because we know Colvin was getting beat all night. The safe bet was to play it safe and force them to make the long field goal. Lutz was 2/3 on 50+ FG last year, and a 58 is now his career long... I guarantee if he kicks it again - he misses, and we win.
There hasn't been many 65-yard FGs in history. Not saying he wouldn't have made it, but it's a more difficult trajectory. Agreed RAC completely goofed the 3rd though.
Yes, there was 6 seconds left, a longer play and a longer route ends the game. The Saints weren't even going for a long pass play, they were going for 5-10 yards for the long FG...so why give them what they want? Play tight, play aggressive. It's not just us saying this but you will find every football analyst say this as well. Watch.
