@Nimo's favorite coach. We don't want to talk about sacks so we'll talk about running the ball instead.

Having a QB who has to run helter skelter for his life helped those rushing numbers. My favorite coach deserves my favorite gif.
You are correct. Being as he was a big reason we drafted Coutee, he shouldve been promoted to the same position.
Frankly, the Texans dug themselves into a hole that took them high capital to dig themselves out of. Due to the fact that this HC touted himself as a QB guru and was insistent on passing quality QBs through the draft because he could do so much more with so much less. Which, consequently, not only regressed the teams progress but also decreased the ability in which to reload valuable talent into positions of need, i.e. Tackle, Guard, Corner, positions. We aren't giving these guys a free pass just because they themselves... shot themselves in the foot. The entire point of a rebuild is attaining assets in droves, not giving them up to make up for past mistakes and ill-advised personnel moves.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ictions-2019-season-landing-spot-leveon-foles 2. The Texans will sign Le'Veon Bell to a deal that eclipses Todd Gurley's Bell didn't just sit out a whole season to take a penny less than the four-year, $57.5 million contract Gurley signed with the Rams last summer. And in spite of that missed season, Bell will have a market for his services. The Jets, 49ers and Texans are all in it, but Houston wins out by selling Bell on what he can do in an offense that features Deshaun Watson at quarterback and DeAndre Hopkins at wide receiver. The Texans must -- and likely will -- address the offensive line in free agency and the draft. But Bell is what my colleague Bill Polian calls a "BYOB" back (bring your own blocking). He can help elevate the Texans' offense to where it needs to be to compete for an AFC title.
Agreed, but shouldn't passing on a QB allow you to add premium talent throughout the roster? What premium talent have they let walk other than Brooks, who the Texans medical staff screwed up their diagnosis and Bouye. If you want to say they should have had more talent on the roster due to npn investing in the QB position I will agree with you. I think that and who was kept and let go falls on the former GM.
I just can't buy the "rebuild" excuse if we're not considering the Chiefs, Bears, Cowboys, Colts, etc...as rebuilds as well. Sounds crazy but just don’t think the overall talent across these rosters are all that different, certainly not enough for one to be odds on SB favorites next season while we need to wait 3 years to rebuild.
Look at the talent on the Chiefs offense and if you cant see the difference then we cant have a discussion because you are living in denial.
It was never supposed to be a rebuild. He came in just needing a QB because the other positions were solid, and he mangled that position for 4 years. Now he's just mangling the OL.
Since Smith and BOB were oil and water, I'm looking forward to this years draft with a full compliment of picks and then give those young guys a chance to get some experience. I mean do you really expect the Texans to catch up to the Chiefs/Pats talent levels in 1 yr. If you do that's being unrealistic. IMHO
Bill O’Brien said that TJ Yates kept in touch with him all of last season in text messages and phone calls. Called Yates position on the coaching staff an entry level position. #Texans — patrick (@PatDStat) February 5, 2019 Akeem Dent worked at Colorado State last season for no pay. Expressed to OB he wanted to coach but didn’t have a spot open last season. This year they do and now he will help on the defensive side of the football. #Texans — patrick (@PatDStat) February 5, 2019 Brian Cushing will be an assistant with the strength and conditioning and will also help J.J. Moses with player development, mainly working with the rookies. #Texans — patrick (@PatDStat) February 5, 2019 #Texans also hired Joe Distor as an assistant strength and conditioning coach. He was with the #Bears last season. — patrick (@PatDStat) February 6, 2019
