Interesting. It would be nice to bring him in to coach up Mario, Amobi, and the DL, but the Lions were HORRENDOUS on defense under him. They finished dead last in defense the last 2 seasons and 4th to last his first year.

That's got to be, partly, because their GM was too busy drafting every wide receiver he could find. He had good defenses in Tamp Bay, right?

I thought I heard on the radio that whoever Jerry Gray is currently working for is not giving him permision to interview with the Texans? Kind of a crapy move if you ask me.

he's out her with the 'skins coaching their secondary.. I don't know who might be holding him back, but if it's Snyder's decision...I don't think that surprises anyone.

But yeah, for a former D coordinator to not be allowed to interview when he's a secondary coach right now is ridiculous

Well, crap. There was a report today that they interviewed Marinelli for the D-line job and NOT the coordinator job. That's really odd to be interviewing people for the lower defensive positions before you've even interviewed anyone for the DC job. You would think whoever gets the DC job would want some input as to the specialist coaches. Makes me think that Bush as the new DC is pretty much a lock and anyone they interview for the job is just for show.

Kind of pisses me off if true.

    Edit:

Chronic was doing the report: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6200476.html

Well, Marinelli would be the cream of the crop as a D-line coach, and other teams are hot after him. They can't afford to wait regardless of who they get at DC. But, you're right, it certainly does make it look more like Bush may get the job.

Detroit contacted the Redskins to interview Gray for their HC vacancy, but I think it would be more public if Snyder denied him.

Some draft ideas from the last few bowl games:

As a late pick, what about the Utah Quarterback, Brian Johnson. I thought he looked like he could really play, and he's projected 7th round. Maybe he moves up after that game, but I think he'd be worth a look.

Gerald McCoy, DT Oklahoma. After Percy Harvin, he might have been the best player on the field last night. I have no clue whether he's coming out (RS Sophomore), but he'd be amazing at either tackle or end.

our first round pick.. all the mocks right now have it being either William Moore or Vontae Davis, with more going with the former..

Marinelli picked the Bears over the Texans.. he only WANTED to be a D-line coach (despite D coordinator jobs elsewhere), and the Bears and Texans were the final 2.. ah well, would have been nice to have him coaching the line but I think the coordinator is probably more important

Davis would be a great pick at #15, even if Dunta comes back, Davis would be a huge addition opposite him.

Moore wouldn't be bad but a lot would have depend on who's available at that point.

They need a defensive end more than anything

I wouldn't mind the Texans trying to sign Derrick Ward or even Ahmad Bradshaw to split some time with Slaton. Ward would be a better fit between the 2.. but if they leave, they probably want a starting gig. I just don't see them getting it, so they might settle for a time share again.

We definitely need a big back, a red zone back that can get tough yards. Once we get in the red zone our running game is pretty weak.

I'd like to see a speed rush linebacker as well. I wish we'd taken Patrick Willis instead of Amobi. It was a dumb move taking a gamble on Amobi with a proven college senior like Willis sitting right there. We need a freak like him blowing plays up. Someone who puts hits on people like the Steelers and Ravens do so often. That speed and hard hitting is where the turnovers will come from.

Off topic but does anyone actually think Lendale White is any good as a back, he is a big back but he is so slow to the hole and goes down very easily for his size, hopefully the Texans can do better than a guy like White.

He is like Ron Dayne, all name:no game.

610 just reported Taylor Mays is heading back to USC. So who else should the Texans should go after in the draft?

i say still go with the available guy between Moore (1st choice) and Davis..

edit: assuming obvious picks like Orakpo are off the board

He's being projected in the top 15 and he doesn't want to declare for the draft? He's going to feel REALLY stupid if he gets a bad injury this year.
