If the Texans are win-now (& they are), there is almost certainly no 4th round pick that would’ve had the same impact as DM will in ‘26.

The Texans were abysmal in the RZ last year - comically so inside the five-yard line. Montgomery addresses this need big-time.

I get that he fills a need, but giving up a 4th rounder for a 29yr old committee rb is an enormous overpay. Again, not the end of the world but that’s too much draft capital.

If we are win-now (and I agree), focus on upgrading the o-line with draft capital. Don’t spend it on a 29yr old committee rb.

“Enormous” overpay? Eh…. The hit rate on fourth rounders is ~20%. David Montgomery will be better than any fourth round draft pick in ‘26, and likely better in ‘27, too.

And they’re not going to solve their OL issues with day 3 picks. Or, at least, they better not…

I’m talking about trading picks for existing o-linemen or to move up in the draft. I just think 4th rounders are more valuable than you are making them out to be. And old plsyers have a bigger injury risk. But I take your point.

**** Silverback at LT, Mays at C, Ersery back to his natural position of RT, fill in the guard spots with bpa in the draft. I like it

still one of the best LT’s in football. Would be nice to have both sides of the line completely solidified. Wonder what he’d cost.

That's likely the plan, but, goodness, they need to go 2/2 (3/3, if you count Ersery) on hits after going pretty much 0-fer the past 4 drafts on OL.

Isn’t this pretty much what Caserio has been doing since he’s been here?

Was over the hill and often injured. Off the field stuff. Availability is underrated. We need an upgrade there anyway. Makes sense.

There is zero chance that they go into the draft needing to get two starters on the line.

This really hasn't happened since Caserio became GM. It happened to Rick Smith on a regular basis.

The 4th is a late 4th and they got the Browns 5th which is the 1st pick of the 5th rd. It's not a big deal.
