Even his fellow Republicans apparently dislike Ted Cruz.

    He's awful.

Thing is, you can generally tell how badly a Senator or Governor wants to be on the Vice- or Presidential ticket by how stunningly corrupt and full of shizzlenit they are.

He is extremely smart and always has been.

He has a personality where he doesn't take a lot of things seriously and views politics as a game.

Over time it has become easier for him to play up this character he has created.

People can rip him, but he really doesn't care from what I have heard from people that know him..... the way he sees it, he is the Senator from Texas and one of the most powerful politicians in the country.

Also he is supposedly a lot more honest behind closed doors and doesn't take criticism against him by others personally.

    Whatever.

My significant other was a state exec for far too many years, and was around him a time or two (or three) and that's pretty much what she says about him. Incredibly smart, highly educated, knows how to play a room, regardless of it's size and composition, and that a lot of what makes up a good, decent human being just doesn't seem to exist in the guy. Cruz creeped her out every time she met him.

This video shows why politics is just brain dead waste of time. The words that come of these people's mouths mean NOTHING.

This is just where the R party has trended the last decade. The utter contempt for education, higher education in particular, is a core piece of their message now. It's not surprising as it is a core piece of all authoritarian movements. Stoking and then feasting on resentment towards the educated class is an incredibly effective weapon used by would be autocrats to seize power on the backs of the working class. College = elites = globalism/pedophiles/every nightmare you can think of.

Did the Astros invite him to be part of the parade? I'd be very disappointed in their organization if that's the case.

They invited a lot of Houston and Texas politicians. Sheila Jackson Lee is there, Dan Patrick and State Rep Gene Wu. I'm not at the parade but watching the stream from Fox 26 and those were the politicians they mentioned.

Fair enough. I can see why a sports team would want to seem apolitical and allow "both sides" to partake. That's fair.

What I find confusing are people who actually find enjoyment in violent acts against others. This country is too divisive with a quick trigger for violence, and seeing how people act in public with the acceptance of such actions are disturbing along with the need to find excuses for such actions. There's no modicum of public decency anymore, where violence is not displayed and cheered. Can we please act like a civilized country?

Why is he on a car during the parade? What did he ever contribute? Seems weird to me.

    Nah

People like that pastor above take advantage of partaking in a civilized society to spew off all the hate they want and creating armies of violent extremists. They don't fear saying this **** because they hide behind the fact we live in a civilized society that has basic decorum.

**** that. To me, a place like that deserves property damage and having their property harnessed and vandalized. They need to be fearful of saying **** like this.

I guess sports teams embrace a role as "community builders" or some such and therefore want to invite "community leaders" (barf, regardless of party) to partake in the big celebrations. As multi-billion $ companies, they probably also like to curry favor where possible. (?)

First off...what does the voice of extremists have to do with the vast majority of people's different views from others? Everyone has their own lives and experiences that influences their beliefs. Extremists like that pastor are few and rare compared to the majority of people in this country. There are people like that on both aisle. You don't let extremists dictate your actions against others, because when you show unprovoked violence just because of beliefs then you become an extremist.

Violence begets violence. Learn to deal with people without the need to physically attack others, and don't let extremists' words cause you to become one.
