It will be a woman VP. The question is which woman. Biden will only serve 1 term, so the VP will be important.
I think Castro's take-down was unintentional. I think Castro's still a little scant on experience to be a credible VP though. And, I think there's a perverse incentive to avoid him as a demographic play. Hispanic voters might turn out more if Castro was on the ticket, but it would probably just inflame passions in white demographics where Biden wants to win back some support that went to Trump. Picking an hispanic might make those white voters feel like they were being asked to eat crow after voting for the wall last time. A Biden-Klobuchar ticket has got to be the most boring ticket of all time. Of all time! But I do think he goes with a white woman, and that's probably Klobuchar. To pick a black VP, like a Corey Booker, would by like trying to make a movie sequel with the same formula, which would end up feeling like pandering. And he probably thinks he already has his racial bonafides. After making history with Obama, he can make history again with a female veep. He won't get much flak for the lack of racial diversity (which he'll make up for in his cabinet, probably).
I don't get why anyone would think Abrams would be in the mix or even a good choice. Female and African American alone isn't what Biden needs. Plus she doesn't flip GA. Debate quotes are irrelevant at this point. It's politics. I'm sure he's not going to be considered but one quote from a debate isn't why.
I agree about Castro. I'm undecided about Abrams. She probably wouldn't turn GA. But she does have national name recognition and might help drive up the turnout in other states. Once she is on the national stage more and has a chance to show her aptitude for the position that could help as well. Granted she isn't a political megastar but a lot of folks that follow politics are at least familiar with her. She got endorsements from celebrities which may help with fundraising etc. It's hard because there are a lot of unknowns with Biden and how energized he can get the base. Abrams could help with that, but if the turnout is already going to be strong then it wouldn't be the best pick for him.
Andrew Gillum discovered passed out and high on crystal meth in a Miami hotel room. I think it’s safe to cross his name off of the list. That said, hopefully he gets the help he needs. This man was 30,000-ish votes away from becoming governor of Florida.
He and his brother need to stay in Texas and try to fix Texas. Basically exactly what Beto didn't do.
Say what you will about Beto, but pre-presidential run Beto at least had the guts to run for statewide office in Texas. The Castros have never shown they have the will to do that.
Who deserves it - Klobuchar Who it’ll be if he decides to pander - Rep. Escobar or Gov. Lujan Grisham Who it probably should be - Abrams** Who it likely will be - Kamala **Personal opinion: political conventional wisdom is dead. Everything you used to know is wrong. Be bold. Do something that will excite people and raise eyebrows. To me, Abrams does that.
It’s Amy. He could’ve doubled down and said “woman of color” but he didn’t. I’m almost certain it’s a white woman and if you follow Amy on Instagram she is constantly effusive in her praise of him, even putting a picture of them laughing together in an office. Very White House-esque vibe
....he did name-drop Amy’s Boyfriend Bill tonight. You know, the same bill at the last debate he interrupted her to pull one of his “...uh, I wrote that” lines before she corrected him.
