Yes! Don’t wait. Get it out the way now and make a full recovery JJ. Hoping for a speedy and full recovery.

JJ put the city on his back, time for the city to carry him.

If you haven’t heard of Sayles, don’t worry, you’re not alone. The Bills signed Sayles after the conclusion of the 2017 draft as an undrafted free agent. While Sayles is certainly a longshot to make the roster, the cornerback possesses the talent and athleticism necessary to put on a show in training camp and preseason.

Sayles played college football at the University of West Georgia, where he recorded 123 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 24 pass breakups. The defensive back was also a bit of an iron man for the Wolves, starting 46 out of a possible 47 games throughout his career.

Despite the fact that he’s just 5-foot-10, 170 pounds, Sayles is a tremendous athlete. The 23-year-old recorded a 4.50 40-yard dash and a 40-inch vertical jump at his official Pro Day. While these numbers are still incredibly impressive, they’re not Sayles’ best-recorded outings in these categories. In a “mock combine” organized by U48 Fitness, Sayles ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds and recorded a 42-inch vertical.

However, a fast 40-yard dash and a strong vertical jump at the combine mean nothing unless these skills can translate to a player’s performance on the field. In the case of Sayles, these skills do translate, as he’s able to keep up with receivers and jump over them when the ball is in the air.

Sayles is also incredibly instinctual, and seemingly knows where the ball is going to go before it even leaves the quarterback’s hands.

With all of this being said, Sayles will still need to have an incredible camp to win a starting job. Buffalo’s depth chart at cornerback appears to be relatively set, at least near the top. If Sayles does make the roster, he’ll likely see time as a rotational defensive back.

Since he likely won’t be starting, Sayles will see time on special teams – which is arguably the strongest part of his game.

The cornerback actually describes himself as a “block specialist” due to the fact that he blocked 13 kicks throughout his time at West Georgia, including 7 in 2015 alone. To put that into perspective, the Bills blocked zero kicks in the 2015 season. Sayles’ 13 blocked kicks throughout his career is a school record.

The reason why Sayles is able to block as many kicks as he does is because of his tremendous speed off of the edge. He’s able to rush past the line, and is often able to get to the kicker or punter without being touched.

And both occurred with minimal contact/impact on the play.

    Freak injuries.

I never doubted that he could fit his footwork, I just thought it would take a LOT more time to do....because fixing things like that usually take a lot longer.

I don't want to derail but I have to ask in light of Cushing news. PEDs?

PED's don't make you break your leg and the Mercilus torn pectoral was similar to when Mario Williams did it. When you are as strong as some of these guys are you can really jack yourself up when things go wrong.

That is why judging a QB's future success is a crap shoot. It is all in between the ears.

Bringing that up with JJ may not go down lightly. But PED's do enhance the chances your tendons will tear. Most guys in the league are on the juice.

I've also heard that. PEDs increase chances of joint, tendon, spine, etc.. injuries. It's the over stressed joints caused by unnatural increase muscle mass. anyway, i don't want to derail just wish JJ a speedy recovery.

    What a frustrating day.

The secondary let us down yesterday. They played horribly and lost the game for us(couldn’t make a stop on 3rd down). The front 7 was able to generate some pressure but the back end let receivers get open all day. They were very solid against the run limiting Hunt to 4 ypc but Alex smith torched our secondary. Jonathon Joseph looked 45 years old out there, couldn’t cover anything. Secondary needs a lot of help.

The poor play of the defense lead to a lack of rhythm development for the offense as they couldn’t get on the field. Once they were able to get on the field more they started to develop some rhythm and looked solid. Deshaun has solidified that he is the qb moving forward and we can start building around him. Had a shaky start but looked better as the game went on. Running game looked very good today minus the foreman fumble. OLine still not very good.

I’m sad for JJ cause I know how hard he worked to comeback only to go out on what I’ve seen called a bad freak accident. Doubt the old JJ is coming back. I’m confident mercilus will come back, but still very sad he’s out for the year.

Let’s take our frustrations out and figure some stuff out on the Browns

I don't get it. Why didn't we go for it on 4th and 1 with 8 minutes or so left in the 4th?

Bill has been consistently going for it much earlier in the game at less crucial points in the game and Watson hadn't had much trouble creating plays with his legs and arm to that point.

That was the turning point.... Tyreek Hill busting it wide open for an 80 yard punt return sealed the win and took back any momentum we built. This guy is so lost and confused with his coaching decisions. It makes him unpredictable but not in the way you want your OC/HC to be.
