Depends on how you define bad. He hadn't given up a HR in nearly a month, and he had only given up 1 run in 3 weeks prior to today. But he's also walked a lot of people and not pitched a full inning in a while, so he's not what he once was.
That's honestly better than I thought but the lack of completing an inning is probably what skews my perception.
It was unrealistic to expect him to keep up the torrid pace he set to start the season.... but he's better than what he has been of late.
If they are going to ask Giles to do this in the playoffs, it's good for him to get used to it. Players like repetition and to know their roles. I'm good with it as near that time of the year.
He hasn't been that good. In addition to the walks, he's allowed inherited runs to score (that technically weren't charged to him). His control is all over the place, mechanics are sloppy, and he seems to have no confidence to throw anything in the zone.
Glad Altuve got it, but not sure it was intelligent. He could have stolen second and given us two good swings at rbi, instead he risks stealing 3rd with 2 out which is near fruitless. He clearly wants 40-40 club though, lol. So good to see.
