Agreed. Better to suck now and force a move vs going into the stretch run with hope instead of better relievers.
Sure the bullpen gave it up, but i can't help but be mad about Jake striking out AGAIN with runners on base.
Are you being too harsh ? He entered with a 2.53 ERA and WHIP sub-1.00 His ERA is still sub-3 after tonight.
I started to comment earlier that Jake's bat is so bad that in a close game it's not worth it bringing him in for a defensive replacement if he has to possibly hit. Had a feeling his wasted AB and opportunity for insurance runs would be costly.
If anything, they’re less likely to make moves if Smith and Rondon truly are back on track... along with the knowledge that you do use starters in the bullpen in the post-season. That wasn’t “luck”.
I didn't watch. Peacock did it again? Unbelievable. So, we lose two games with Peacock giving up a walk-off. And, Rockets lose two games almost exactly the same blowing leads in the 3rd. All this in a span of 3 days. That ain't right!
Nick you think Giles is that stud closer you can count on with a 4.76 era? If so why wasn’t he in there in the 9th ? I’m sorry but every single time he’s in the game I cringe
No he sucks, that's why I didn't like the idea of bringing him in as a defensive replacement losing a bat in the lineup when the game was still close. He's just too bad to play right now.
Did I say any of that? I just said its ironic that we have a closer that's much better in save situations, and he has yet to blow a save this year... and yet he wasn't available today due to overuse in non save situations. I bet if Devo, Peacock, and Harris had enough 9th inning save opportunities, they'd blow enough for people to cringe as well... hence is the life of a closer where you only remember their failures.
It was a question I wasn’t being a jerk just a simple question hence the question marks if you didn’t see those. I never said you said anything
Well, no **** he was bad... he blew the save. His game 5 blown save also gets lost in the midst of all of last post-season's bullpen meltdowns, but that blown save was technically the worse one of them all (3 run lead at home... in an epic all-time game even before he blew that save). Harris has shown what the 9th inning does to one's mindset. Peacock has an extra-inning mental block as well. Devenski is not a lights out guy in waiting. Everybody is begging for guys to have set roles... but still have the flexibility to do more things (like pitch multiple innings, etc.)... in the end, managing a bullpen can be challenging, and this team's roster is certainly not making it any easier.
