They did get shut down by great pitching though. Same team got Kerry Wood'd. They also got shut down by Sterling Hitchcock. Yes, they had more talent in the lineup, but there was also some mental midgetry that the post-season brought out of them.
Pretty good stuff. This is what I mean when I asked if it’s realized what we are watching/experiencing right now. It’s a truly great team. Hope the team goes out and takes another title to kind of solidify that greatness.
I generally like Lance Zierlein - but why anybody would ask him about baseball - of which, he knows nothing - is beyond me.
Sorry; that wasn't a shot at you... I just don't think he a) cares about baseball; b) knows much about it. There are dozens & dozens of posters here who lap his depth of knowledge. It's really bad.
That's an odd checklist to develop to argue a team is all-time great or not. I'd bet with a little digging you could find prior teams that were athletic, had good power and had a power SP and power RP but still weren't close to all time great. There is MUCH more that goes into a truly all-time team than just power.
I feel like there is much more that goes into the making of a great team. I just appreciate that the team is starting to get that type of recognition.
Clevinger is butt hurt even more after the loss. LOLOLOL https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2018/10/10/mike-clevinger-lost-his-cool-on-twitter-yesterday/
2 days before the ALCS is longer than 5 months before Spring Training. Also, I've made the Kessel Run in under 12 parsecs.
The 1998 Astros sure look a lot like the 2018 Red Sox Chris Sale - Randy Johnson Rick Porcello - Shane Reynolds Eduardo Rodriguez - Mike Hampton Andrew Benintendi - Carl Everett as Lefty Batters Mookie Betts - Craig Biggio Speed, Contact lead off J.D Martinez - Derek Bell with Bagwell power Craig Kimbrel - Billy Wagner both are similar in overthrowing the Fastball and being wild, Slider is inconsistent and hits batters, both have short height, Kimbrel is a righty, Wagner as a lefty
I don't know if I buy the concept, but, uhm... you know who on the '98 Astros is Derek Bell with Bagwell power? Bagwell........ Why is JD Martinez not, you know - Bagwell?........ He's on the team. (I don't think JDM is Bagwell. Or Bell. If anyone, he'd probably be Moises Alou - but, again, I don't think there's much natural alignment.)
