Can't control what the mariners do but it's beginning to annoy me. Though it's pretty cool for their fans they have one of the longest post season droughts. Sipp looks to have found his 2015 self
I'm pretty confident we are gong to end up in first by a fairly comfortable margin so I'm OK with the Red Sox losing to the Mariners. Home field in the playoffs is big.
Also, competition within the division is not a bad thing at all. Part of the argument why the Red Sox/Yankees play well against good teams is that they have a ton of head-to-head games with each other that have playoff-like atmospheres throughout the season. Contrast that with whatever is happening in the AL Central... where the Indian won't play a "heated" game till the playoffs. Since the Astros no longer have Rangers games to really get amped about (which happened last year, where they had a singular focus to BTHOOR), I would welcome at least one semi-important series against a division rival prior to the playoffs.
Not saying we are there yet, but when seeming non-contenders start beating contenders, they become contenders themselves.
Yes, but if you read my post, it brought up their heightened desire/focus to beat the Rangers last year, which served as their own internal drive for competition. They don't have any of that this year.... mainly because the Rangers have taken it upon themselves to be so bad as to not create a challenge.
Astros will win the World Series regardless of whether Seattle provides competition. Standings in June mean about a third of the season. Considering where Seattle is, they have a decent chance to hang in there for a while if they survive the next 8 games.
Had Altuve made it in. That would have been the third run there. Good movie with a high contact guy coming to bat.
Lol he wasn't close though. And he was already in scoring position with 1 out. It was unnecessary when Duffy has already been giving up hard hits. Taking the bat out of Yuli's hand who has been hitting well with RISP. Altuve gets a pass cause he drove in 2 but that wasn't a smart play, at all...I'm sure he'll make up for it again though.
