If DK can't shut down this lineup he needs some time off. Morton has also looked terrible his last 2 starts, but I fully expect time off will be coming his way in the not too distant future, one way or the other. He's never pitched a full season, no reason to think he will this year either. It's amazing how quick things can fall apart in this league, KC is terrible now.
On injury note, I heard today that the Astros have used 29 players. The next healthiest and/or stable team has used 38. I knew the Astros have had great health this year (specifically for pitching), but did not think it was to this magnitude versus other teams. Edit: Misheard number so not as dramatic as 38.
Some seem to feel he already does (need time off). Some summer vacation? A couple times now, ive meant to go back and see what happened to them. Certainly, history has some lessons to reveal, especially for teams trying to stay on top right now. But yes, they went from winning 95 games in 2015 to 81 the next year and never recovered.
I think it is more amazing that every other team has used 38+. I find that really hard to believe as it means most teams have exhausted their 40 man roster and it's only June.
Among those teams that are not really trying to win, it may be the case they are playing most of their "40" just to give everyone looks.
Not all injuries are equal. Tommy John is one thing, a sore muscle or a spider bite is another. Point: the DL is often used to shuffle guys around.
This is a really important stretch. With seattle's next several games likely to result in some losses, we have a chance to gain some separation....
With the DL now 10 days, I expect a lot of shuffling of banged up guys. With more teams experimenting with things like the opener and more bullpen days, I expected teams with lesser staffs to be more willing to give guys off days for fatigue.
I complain about the west coast tee times Now I’m on a plane to Scotland and just realized that the games next week will mostly start after midnight
