11 straight on the road. Springer needs a day off. This would be a good time to bring up Tucker, he's hot and he could play in front of his family and friends in Tampa.

Jake the rake for MVP. Was interesting to see Rays pitch around him to get to Springer. Guess they knew what they were doing. Stellar pitching performance with a little luck along the way. All the offense except for Jake thought they were still playing at home. I think we may have found our closer in Rondon.

It's great seeing Jake's presence more justified.

    He's loved in the clubhouse.

Is Rondon our new closer to replace Giles?

After seeing Giles punch himself in the face as he came off the field, I think Hinch has been much more conservative about using Giles and declaring anybody the closer.

I don't think Hinch has decided for sure. He is trying to give Giles every opportunity in the world but IMO unless he can figure out a way to consistently perform under pressure Giles is not the answer for closer. It's a shame because we gave up quite a bit to get him.

Since punching himself in the face, Giles has been brought in to close 8 games. He was successful in each and gave up 0 runs.

Still for me anyway I have an uneasy feeling every time Giles comes in. I hope this closer by committee or whatever it is continues to work. So far since Hinch has been our manager some of the buttons he has pushed have been incredible. Specifically the way he managed the World series without the use of his primary bullpen.

Just pointing out that Hinch has still used him more than any other reliever to close games since that incident. That being said, Hinch clearly is playing it game by game between Rondon and Giles.

So, Rondon getting 4 saves this month is evidence that Hinch has *not* been using Giles more selectively and there is no offical closer right now? I mean, I saw Giles being used as a set-up man as much as a closer, but I only have two working eyes. What do I know?

When was Giles last Save Opp, 9th inning ?

His last Save was 2+ weeks ago.

Rondon has been the guy, but Giles will see more chances even if only Rondon not pitching 3 days in a row.

Its pretty clear that rondon is the trusted guy. regardless of any arbitrary numbers pointing to giles'
"success". I will give hinch credit though....jake is looking better at the plate....I wanted him gone two weeks ago.
