Should’ve left Hader in for that 10th inning instead of going with the minor leaguer. Too high leverage for that guy. stupid move Espada
Espada left javier in when it was clear he was done. That cost us the lead. Espada took out Hader and put in an unproven minor leaguer to start the bottom of the 10th after we didn’t score. That cost us the game. pinch hitting singleton for Dubon. That was really weird. worried about this guy’s baseball instincts.
When was that we had success a top level prospect? I guess Brown and the jury is still out on him. The rest of the guys were all under the radar. I hope spaghetti changes the trend.
Good luck to Arrighetti. Hopefully he lasts longer than the guy from the other day lol Also is Arrighetti like those pitchers who doesn't go deep? Could be wrong but it seems whenever I look at his game stats, he goes like 4 or 5 innings.
Arrighetti is not really a top prospect. He’s not on any top 100 lists and was not drafted very high. Houston’s farm is just barren in the upper levels in terms of top end talent right now, so Arrighetti is their top pitching prospect. If we were still in the hey day for Houston’s farm (2012-2019), Arrighetti wouldn’t even be among Houston’s 10 best prospects. Arrighetti has potential but I don’t expect much out of him tonight or really this season. I hope I’m wrong.
I’m fine with taking hader out. It’s not like he’s comfortable going two innings and it’s still mid April. We need him fresh later. Sucks our bullpen depth is what it is. We really should have signed maton, stanek, or neris. What happens if we have like a 15 inning game or something?
You wanted Javier pulled during the 5th inning? They didn’t lose the lead because Javier…they lost the lead because Bregman’s defense. Even if he left Hader out there for a second inning, it’s not guaranteed he doesn’t give up the run with the ghost runner on 2nd. Honestly, he didn’t look that great in the 9th. He couldn’t throw his slider strike. If he gets out of it, we are back in the same situation anyway but now we just burned Hader for two innings. Should have walked Perez though in the 10th given who is behind him and also set up the double play. The Singleton usage is the only true concerning move. But then again, the fact he is even on the roster is more concerning. Truly baffling and really don’t understand what the hell Espada/Brown are doing. Hopefully they are trying to convince Crane to spend a few more million to sign Belt or something…certainly they can’t really think he is a MLB player.
We never score in extras so a 15 inning game is very unlikely so I think yo can take that off your list of concerns. I agree with you that we should have resigned 1 of those as well (I'd have resigned Neris). Graveman getting hurt didn't help matters either.
He was done. He was .showing signs of being done in the 4th. He was definitely done after 5. This is not hindsight, I called it as it was happening last night. Javier should’ve been pulled after completing the 5th inning.
Hader doesn't do 2 innings. It's one of many reasons I wasn't thrilled with giving him so much money. Espada didn't actually have the option to leave him in even if he wanted.
If Bregman just makes the plays he’s supposed to make, they never take the lead. Our bullpen was already turned upside down from the night before. You wanted to bring in Suero for the 5th with Javier at like 65 pitches and not having allowed a run? Come on man…that doesn’t even remotely make sense. If you want to say leaving him in for the 6th wasn’t a good move, I get that.
